Almost perfect conditions proved a thankful contrast to that of round two, as teams headed to Donington Park for the third installment of the F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship, hosted by N.G.R.R.C.

In the F2 class, Rob Fisher, with regular passenger Rick Long back in the chair took their 600 Baker Thundercat to a hat-trick of victories to claim maximum points finishing first on the road in all three races. Next up, and also sealing three wins in the F1 class were Joe Heys / Gary Wheeler (1200 Heys Kawasaki), in what is Joe's fiftieth season of racing!

The second round of the 2019 A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship saw another lap record fall, in a weekend featuring some fantastic racing. There was a win each for Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie, and series leaders Pete Founds / Jevan Walmsley, both similarly mounted on LCR Suzuki machinery. Rob Atkinson / Glenn Dawson (Bellas Suzuki) were the dominant force in the F2 Cup, taking both wins to move up to third in the “series within a series”, despite having to miss the opening round at Snetterton a month ago.

Having just about recovered from the rain and wind at Oulton Park a fortnight ago, the third round of the 2019 F.S.R.A. Preinjection Sidecar Championship travels to Donington Park on the weekend of the 11th and 12th May. This looks set to be an interesting weekend of sidecar racing, with the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Championship also being hosted by N.G.R.R.C. Seventeen Pre-Injection sidecars have entered, comprising of eleven F2 and six F1, this being the greatest turn out so far this year.

Donington Park is the setting for the second round of this year's A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship over the weekend of the 11th and 12th May. Three weeks have now passed since the opening event at a very chilly – but mainly dry – weekend at Snetterton. The trip to Norfolk was a particularly fruitful one for reigning champions Pete Founds / Jevan Walmsley who had a perfect weekend, with pole position, two wins and shaved a massive 1.9 seconds off the lap record. In the F2 Cup, series debutants Michael Kirkup / Arlo Brown topped the timesheets in every session, and took two convincing wins and hold a ten point advantage in this section.

Unfortunately the second round of the 2019 F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship saw fewer competitors – not due to a lack of enthusiasm or interest, but owing to the fact that the shared grid of sidecars was over-subscribed well before the closing date for entries.

The opening races of the 2019 A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship were held at a chilly Snetterton 200 over the weekend of 13th and 14th April. Results throughout the event saw a regular theme, as champions of the last three seasons – Pete Founds / Jevan Walmsley – took pole, two wins and shaved a huge 1.9 seconds off the previous lap record. Their intentions to land an unprecedented fourth championship title could not be clearer!

The opening round of the 2019 F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship took place on Sunday 7th April at Mallory Park. Both races were dominated by former champions, Rob Fisher / Rick Long, returning to the series following an absence of almost two full seasons. However, impressing greatly was sixteen-year-old Matthew Sims, taking a fine third place in the Trophy race as passenger to Hayley Christie in his first competitive outing.

The 2019 F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship kicks off next Sunday (April 7th) at Leicestershire's Mallory Park circuit. This biggest change to this increasingly popular series is that following discussions and a vote at the A.G.M. last November, is that there are now two distinctive “classes” within the championship.

Apologies for the slight delay with this report - slowly drying out (not my drink problems on this occasion - but all the kit clothing and bike etc.)! Well done to the brave that experienced Cadwell’s micro-climate of: rain; snow; sleet; wind – and - more rain! With such adverse weather conditions affecting both days of racing only one race each day could be held. But the good old British spirit and lunacy kept us all going with high levels of morale.

Daryl Gibson and Ashley Moore, representing "Gibson Racing" have had a remarkable year after joining forces in the spring of 2018. They dominated the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Cup series - taking eleven wins and a further podium place from fifteen starts - winning the championship by an impressive forty four points. They also placed an excellent sixth overall in the "Super F2" category against the more established teams.

  • 2018 has seen six weekends of top quality action from the F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection Sidecar Championship, and hopefully that precedent will continue at this weekend's concluding round, held at the annual "Sidecar Bash". With the title still to be decided, and a potential 125 points to be scored, it is mathematically possible for any one of eight teams to land the championship - although it will take a monumental effort for anyone to displace leaders John Shipley / Milo Ward, who take a fifty one point advantage to Cadwell Park.

The final round of the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British Formula 2 Sidecar Championship took place at Oulton Park, and owing to circuit restrictions this was a one day only meeting with North Gloucester Road Racing on Saturday 6th October. With the top two places in the Super F2 Championship already decided - Peter Founds / Jevan Walmsley and Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie respectively - congratulations to both teams - third place was still for the taking with two teams tied, namely John and Jake Lowther and Steve and Matty Ramsden. Also to be decided was the F2 Cup with Daryl Gibson / Ashley Moore leading Ralph Remnant / Sam Tilley by thirty eight points.

Misfortunes at East Fortune for some saw championship leader board changes, after Simon Horton's Wintec 1100 Suzuki had an excursion to the Scottish countryside in qualifying, ending his racing weekend. This allowed John Shipley / Milo Ward (Ireson 1000 Yamaha) to head the charge against the the fifteen strong grid to earn a maximum sixty points with four wins.
