Re: TT lap times
Curious if the minimum speed or lap time to qualify for the sidecar class over say the last 10 years or so is available anywhere?

Re: Beginners tyre advice
Never tried "treaded" tires but I did notice a detectable difference when I switched from slicks & rains designed for cars to sidecar specific slicks & rains. The sidecar was more planted and handled more predictably at the edge of traction (and beyond). Thus I would recommend goin...

Re: ACU 2018 Handbook download
Would that be the top of the rim or the bottom (which will result in a lot of shredded carbon fiber). I think maybe a return to "spindle" would be advised.

Re: Understeer ?
I assume we are talking about right hand corners (and a left side chair)? Move chair wheel back if adjustable? Move motor and/or fuel forward? (before going to that trouble bolt some weights on forward to confirm it helps) I would have my passenger climb up on my back a bit for the odd corner where ...

Re: Minimum weight
I think it is a good idea as it can limit the affect of unlimited funds (to buy light weight bits or replace lighter bits more often) evening out he field a bit. Unfortunately for me I've returned to crewing on a one-design sailboat which has a MAXIMUM crew weight (forcing me to drop 3.5 stone to re...

Re: weight of a sidecar
According to my shipping invoices: an MRE F2 with 6 extra wheels&tires and a few spares fully crated weighed 527kg (including the crate). So the crate will weigh more then the sidecar. Also be aware that you will need to use certified lumber (has special stamps on it). If the eventual purchaser ...

Re: helmet
I think I would just live with a 27mm difference. I was born with a 1cm difference (plus another 1cm due to a bad pelvic tilt). Went un-diagnosed until I was 30. Didn't affect my sidecar driving at all

Re: TT 2017
I put in a very significant and expensive effort to enter as a rookie in 2015. We failed to qualify by a couple mph. We would have been ecstatic to circulate in the race and be flagged off at the end of the 2nd lap. As it was we went home without racing which was a huge let down (especially since th...

Re: Lifting the sidecar onto stands
Fast way is two people lifting and one inserting stands. My slow way was a portable folding 1 Ton engine crane with a air equipped hydraulic cylinder. I would roll two of the wheels up on some 2x4's, roll the crane legs under the sidecar, attach a couple of tie-downs (figuring out where to attach so...

Re: SIdecar Newcomers
They were looking pretty good until they slowed/stopped. At this point any finished lap is a GOOD lap. If they can gain 1-2mph per session and they get most of their sessions then they should qualify. Weather, serious incidents in earlier sessions or with the public and mechanical issues are their m...

Re: SIdecar Newcomers
The finished eventually (70.48mph avg). Likely stopped and then continued. Could have been many reasons (mechanical, physical, sheep, grouse, sidecar in the way, etc.)

Re: tt cost
Depends where you are starting from. In my case (all figures in $Cdn, divide by 2 to get GBP): 1) Visit TT to line up assistance and get in some laps $2,000 2) Obtain an F2 capable of doing the TT $23,000 (including shipping & taxes) 3) Drag passenger along to visit TT before asking for commitme...
