Yes,I seem to remember him being a copper, didn't really mix with the other sidecar lads.Mansfield is only about 5 miles from Shirebrook. Here is a poor quality photo of him with what looks like a Fiddaman Triumph outfit, taken at Cadwell.

Re: STEVE GRAINGER

Different Steve Grainger Jo,not the TT scrutineer. The SG in question was from Shirebrook,a small pit village on the Notts/Derbyshire border and raced from the late sixties to mid seventies.I think he raced a BSA outfit and then a Windle Honda and was passengered by Graham Bettison.

Re: Who are they?

No.31 is Malcolm Ward (aka Sos Ward) and Cyril Jobes from Bolton on Dearne,Sos worked with Terry Windle and John Crick building outfits at Colin Bell Motorcycles before Terry and John left to form Windrick Racing.

Re: Who are they?

I seem to rememeber Paul's passenger as John Stockdale,he later emigrated to the Isle of Man and ran the Stock Car stadium at Onchan.I also vaguely remember Paul's father working for Jim Norbury at Lockside engineering.

Re: Can you help with the History of this outfit???

Hello again John, the answer to your questions are...The front and rear wheels were originally vertical, your sidecar has bent upwards with age.As far as I know no frame numbers were ever used.I have no more photos of the 16" wheelers but here is one of Mick Joyce and Alan Collins on their Todd Suzuki ...
