Mike ive seen the light with the F2 proper racing and great fun.No point in keeping the old one want to master the F2 the best we can and have a rattle round the tt in 09 if we can.
Its not the negative experiance that ive had at the crmc races that has sent me this way its that i want to race more and for me an F2 is a proper racing sidecar

Blimey whats wrong with everyone!! :wallbash:
Looks like my tongue in cheek comment about Geffros honda capacity has gone down like a lead balloon.
It seems if you enter into discussion regarding anything Classic at the moment, people take this as an invitation to hurl abuse at each other!! Far too much emotion for my liking.
Here's my take on it all (my last rant coz I can't be bothered any more) The bikes have changed, the rules have been abbused, The essence of what was classic sidecar racing is lost. Some people are trying to preserve what it really was, yet they receive soo much grief I don't know why they bother. Anyone who raced with the CRMC 10 years ago or so, truely knows why the class is in decline, all the old bikes are now abroad, so how can it ever be the same.
There is now an industry being built around the newer style of bike (i beleive some refer to them as super classics or something like that) anyway its going same route as Manx's and sommerfields etc, so now its a real money class - theres no coming back from that.
This class of racing should not evolve - it should just be preserved. Is that not the real essence of any classic racing???
I race an Imp, purely due to a passion for all things Imp
For all the Imp haters out there if it was'nt for Imps how many classic outfits would you see out on track.
And in reply to any comments regarding the supposed spec of my engine its 998 built exactly as they were in 1970, the bike is as original as the day when Terry Windle built it. Yeah I could rip it to pieces and try and fit 13 inch wheels, etc etc,but thats not why I own it. It is what it is!! a classic sidecar no less.
Good luck gents with all the ranting and raving, I'm lucky I can look back at times when the Classic Sidecar scene was a pleasure to be involved in, so I really don't wish to get involved in all this nonsense.

Sorry I forgot the ('s) it was more than one, and rule's in a club are rule's for every one. If you are asked to change the tyre's by the next meeting and dont you get what you deserve and I would tell new or old members
the same. Also I for got to say in the other thread all what was said at the A.G.M.
2008 is poss the last year there will be sidecars in the C.R.M.C all classes have to pay there way in the club and sidecars have not been doing this for some time. they are putting together another solo class and if this take off it will take the place of sidecars. I am not the only one fighting to keep sidecars in the club but I think I am loosing the battle.
Instead of always bitching on at the C.R.M.C if you want to still race on the best tracks I think we should stick together and get some bikes out there.

classic sidecars
excuse my ignorance as having said many times we only race on the other side of La Manche, why does it appear that the Vintage Club dont seem to have the problems with sidecars like the CRMC do

Peter - this is a question that I have asked here repeatedly and have had no helpful reply. It is an obvious one to me and you but not possibly to some others. Answer that question and the solution may become clearer.
Same question applies to continental classic meetings where a good number of UK teams regularly compete ...............

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

entries/lack of.
Bob,I can answer 2nd part, all of us who race the continent do it because we get a weekend for around 130 euros,at least 2 longish races, maybe 3,lots of practice and hosted by people who WANT sidecars,so you get a lot of racing miles for your money and thats a big part of it I dont want £180 entry fee for a couple of 5 lappers around Mallory even creeping around thats only just over 5 or 6 minutes,I dont always blame the clubs because circuit hire fees are steep so why dont we go to the smaller clubs on the less popular circuits..

If that is the case then I hope they will manage with pathetic crowd turnout and dwindling marshal numbers.2008 is poss the last year there will be sidecars in the C.R.M.C
I am VERY upset that the club have taken this stance. I feel that the truth is people will race with a club if they feel they are wanted. Is that the case with the CRMC? Hmm I am begining to think not.
2008 may well be the last year I race sidecars

Perhaps a change of name to Post Classic Racing Motorcycle Club or maybe Classic Relica Motorcycle Club???

A quote from the CRMC homepage:
The CRMC Organises race weekends across the country throughout the year. We are the UK's most active and broad-ranging racing organisation catering for solos and sidecars made from 1945 to 1972 (or 1967 for 2-strokes) and Post Classic, split into three categories.

classic sidecars
hang on in there triplebrew, dont pack it in there`s a whole world out there who want you to race your classic sidecar,in fact if you get an entry for Chimay this year they are talking about using the old circuit, probably bettter than 10 kms(each lap),a couple of 5 lappers would be OK,plus of course the obligitory Belgian beer
Maybe there is a heaven after all!!!!!!
