It was MBE wasn't it, before I post this on the front?

Although he claimed that his MBE meant “motor bike enthusiast,” in fact that honour recognized another activity, his volunteer contribution over 25 years to the Surrey Special Constabulary, reaching the rank of Commandant and overseeing the modernization of the uniformed “specials” force in support of the professional police. He was also closely involved with the Surrey Constabulary Motor Cycle Club.

A very fitting tribute to Alan because in his real professional life he was chairman of the British Timber Trades Federation. A great, wonderful yet humble man whom it was a privilege to have known.
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!
