eligibility/engines allowed
Re: eligibility/engines allowed
yes ian,but check sidecar results,gsx1100 engined outfits in there but beaten by tz750`s and a 1300cc vincent!
look for 1074 suzuki`s.some were beaten by alsorts of different engines and if the gsx engines were as fast as you seem to think they are they should have cleaned up at philip island, but they didnt!.
why when you are going fast does it seem slow!.

Back in the late 80's we had one of the most successful GSX engined outfits around. It regularly beat TZ750/700s. Ken Williams also raced one with great success, as did Gordon Shand, Brian Hargreaves etc. Ours produced 112 bhp and was quicker around a circuit than one producing 120bhp. We had good results at the TT and Southern 100 with those engines and, compared to TZ's etc, they were relatively realiable and cheap to run. The main problem, as I recall, was keeping them cool. Big holes in the fairing and big oil coolers was the order of the day then.
There wasn't much between a good GSx and a half decent TZ but, as always, it was down to the bloke with the twist grip.

So how long have I had these voices in my head, I hear you ask?

That they were Merv! The biggest we ever ran ours was 1105 with the Yoshimura kit in it. It was a good tool.

The 2 fastest GS1000 ( not GSX1100 ) outfits I ever saw were those of Brian Hargreaves and a lad called Matthew Nelson from Southport (who then swapped to TZ700) ... they went like s**t off a shovel
