Why dont people stand up to theses idiots who make make these rules ??? 
Vote them off commitees who they get paid expenses to be on and let some common sense prevail !!!!!!!! I know before you all start ranting and raving that sidecars need to clean up there act but come on catch trays etc fitted to classics ?? (never in the period) tell blah blah to fit s_hit to there classic original Honda when they parade them I dont think so I go to car meetings they dont have to do this crap Are rule makers come up with this S IT.

Yeah but I doubt an answer will be available in the short term. Perhaps contact the chief tehnical official of your meeting? Mine first meeting isn't until 25th March so I won't know what I'm asked to apply until then.

I'm not sure that any clarification is going to be forthcoming from the ACU.
The rule was written by the FSRA and put to the ACU for ratification.
As I've said before, the ACU consider the FSRA to be the experts on sidecar racing.

I assumed this had been cleared up already, because this question wasn't asked at the Road Race Committee yesterday. The only thing brought up on sidecars was Post-Classic wheel protection.
I think Kew is right, the ACU have left this with the FSRA because that's where it came from and they are considered to be the experts. It's very easy to say the ACU know nothing and that we should stand up to them (whoever "we" happen to be at any given time), but I think you have to go back to where it came from. It will not have been thought up for no reason, there must have been a good intention behind it to start with.
For what it's worth;- I think sidecar racers have gone around wearing hair shirts over the oil issue for far too long. They do have a historical image problem with poor oil containment, but if you actually look at the facts over the past 5 years they are probably more oil tight than any other class (except 2-stroke solos).
