Gote Brodin

Anybody know whatever became of Gote Brodin. He was Swedish, IIRC, and rode in the UK and some World rounds in the @70s. I think he rode a Windle Yam.

I raced against him at Scarborough mid 70s, he was running a Yam then, he overtook us coming down from Mountside Hairpin and hit the jump and ended up 2 fields away and had to get the farmer with his tractor and trailer to retrieve the bike.

He was a hard charger, I hope he is still around.

i remember riding at brands in 1978 or 79 . it was a World F750 round with a sidecar race in between the 2 legs.Gote Brodin won and Jeff Gawley or Dick Greasley finished second. Steve Baker won the 750 round on a TZ750. I seem to remember most outfits were Yamaha powered by then. The solo 750s later became Super bikes

I think Gote first came to the UK in 1976 and raced at Mallory at the Race of the Year on a very quick 750 Suzuki. After that he was a regular at Brands, Mallory and other internationals.
Pete, the race you refer to was in July 1977. Gote, now on a Yamaha, beat George O'Dell by 18s with Jeff Gawley 3rd and broke the lap record by nearly 2s.
