Some great TT Stats information pages from John Newton

Unread post by steve-e »

Following on from Matt's request for the over 110mph laps - answered by Phil Wain, John Newton has supplied a wealth more information.

This is the sort of thing that commentators would push their mothers off cliffs for.

Please say a big thank you to John for this!

Hadn't really looked at these since last June. Saw Pete Founds' name, correctly, on the passenger's list but not Tom Peters who was on with Alan Founds and did 110+ last year. So, there's one mistake already!  Please let me or Steve know of any others.

Oops again, Vince, you're right. Doing the drivers list is easy, but checking the passengers one less so. A quick look at the drivers list show Nick and John together with Dan the passenger but he was quicker with Nick.

The podiums totals are interesting Adam, especially the ones without a win. So near but so far...... Incidentally Chris Mc Gahan's finishes include some solo races.

The late Donny Williams also won with three different drivers:

Trevor Ireson (1982)
Nigel Rollason (1986) - also the last all British team and machine combination to win a TT (plus the last front exit outfit to win a TT)
Mick Boddice snr (1987)

Those stat lists are really impressive - thanks chaps, great effort.

Reading through, the one name that comes up a lot everywhere is the late great passenger Wolfgang Kalauch, not only one of the nicest people in the paddock (according to my Wife Pauline), but from the stats could easily be 'Mr Sidecar TT'. He sure had some exceptional talent - just look at the impressive list of who he crossed the line with :notworthy: .
