Kershaw and Clark head for Norfolk to do battle with TT superstars Ben and Tom Birchall
Snetterton plays host to round three of the championship this coming weekend (16-17th June). Leading the charge into Norfolk are Steve Kershaw and Stuart Clark aboard the Molson Santander Salt 1000cc Kawasaki. The enjoy a twenty-seven point advantage over team-mates Todd Ellis and Chaz Richardson who campaign a 600cc Honda.
Sitting third in the chase is another big engined bike in the hands of Phil Bell and Stuart Ramsay. Their Marin Motorsport Kawasaki is extremely fast and they did great things last time out at Oulton Park despite having virtually no brakes by the end of the race.
Double former champions Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood are now getting to grips with the Quattro Plant JG Speedfit 600 Kawasaki, and were another crew going well at Oulton Park. They are used to running at the front, but so far this year they've not seen too much of that. Let's hope they have turned a corner, and will be mixing it at the sharp end.
Snetterton will also see the return to short circuit action of those intrepid crews who have just completed the Isle of Man TT.
Teams from the championship who made the trip to the Island include John Holden/Lee Cain, Alan and Pete Founds, Gary Bryan and Phil Hyde, and most importantly the Mansfield based Birchall brothers.
Ben and Tom Birchall were astonishingly fast in the Island, taking a double victory and smashing the lap record in the process.
They will arrive at Snetterton with confidence at an all-time high, and will be very keen to maximise the points, as they are currently seventh in the standings with twenty-five points from one race win at Brands.
John Holden and Lee Cain were twice runners-up in the Island on the Barnes Racing/Silicone Engineering Kawasaki, whilst Gary Bryan and Phil Hyde had a brilliant TT just a few weeks after an industrial accident in which Bryan severed a finger.
Reunited with the big bike, Gary Bryan will be hoping to repeat his Brands Hatch podium success in round one.
The Snetterton 300 circuit will favour big-bike power, but the strength of the 600's is corner speed, and there will be plenty of that. With a twelve lap race on Saturday, followed by a ten lap sprint race mid-afternoon Sunday bang in the middle of the live Eurosport TV slot, the weekend promises to be a good one.
