funny how the vintage club can fill there grids for s/cars.but crmc cant.we need more s/cars please

Fill the grid with sidecars or cars???

Fill the grid with 350's, Forgotten Era, Morgans etc..... All in one race..... At least the crowd will get a race to watch and not a long drawn out prossesion....

the 350's ok are not classics BUT if the club is struggling to get entries why not let them in? A good 350's lap time is on par with our BM so would make for some good racing......

Put Morgans and any other cars out and that will be the end of my racing with anyone.

Alanort, God rest his soul, always said that racing with Morgans was like stock car racing without roll cages. I tend to agree. 8)

At mallory we were out with a mixture of sidecars with the 350 including the Morgans it was very difficult trying to pass them especially around Gerrards they didn't seem to have any particular line changing from left to right and then back again . Next year the F350 class should be much bigger, lots of 350 outfits are being dusted off and rebuilt after years in garages. I think it would be great if we could run with the classics :2thumbs: sidecar 151 says "ok so 350's are not classics " iI saw three beautiful classic sidecars at Mallory a year or two ago they were brand- new :d how does that work then what date do you put on your entry the TZ engine must be getting on abit now is it because you have to be front exit or the silly cut off date for a two stroke that stops them being eligible :d Don't think I am having a dig at the classic club because I'm not :no: :stumm: :stumm: Ijust think that with F2 racing getting more and more expensive with more and more club riders having to upgrade just to stay even midfield that changing class may be the way forward for some of us So the Classic /vintage clubs should relax the rules a little if the want to see more outfits on the grid :2thumbs:

Matt - I have your point a number of times with the suggestion that CRMC 'Management' ought to examine VMCC for possible clues. It cannot be that classic sidecar racing is not supported by crews, just that there is a single reluctance to race with CRMC. I suspect that there are more chances of selling contaceptives to the pope than anyone from CRMC asking this question ......

I emailed the Classic club in 1999 when I was Elligabillity Secretary for Forgotten Era. Asking if they would consider letting us out with the classic outfits to improove grid numbers.
Never even got a reply.
I have reservations racing against the Morgans, they take totally different lines to us but otherwise the more the merrier.
Mike Bellaby on a Lynx Weslake beat me to FER champion in 1994, the classics dont hang around.

Unfortunately when you look around the CRMC paddock, sidecars have just fizzled into the background, nothing to help promote us, no national races??, no prizes, no feature races etc etc...... and look at how many classes of solo there are these days:- singles, twins, bikes built on thursdays, big bikes, little bikes and so on!!

Granted we enjoyed some exposure with a couple of outfits featured in Classic Racer. - But that wave of enthusiasm soon died a death - what happened??

I personally am intending to have a go of F2 just to be among larger grids. I was gutted this year with the poor turn out, especially after all the hype regarding the introduction of clutch starts and so on.

We have all argued all year about the eligibility of certain machinery, Why not introduce a Post Classic class??? It worked for Solos. Even if it attracts another half a dozen crews, thats a start.
It may even take off in such a way it could support it's own race????? Then we could see some exotic stuff coming out to play:- Konigs, TZ's.............

Its a shame because on a good day the outfits really do provide the most entertaining races at these event, it would be a real shame to see it go belly up.

There was talk at the last FSRA committee meeting regarding CRMC grids and the possibility of PC's going there and vice versa.
Tibs or Stu Mellor are the people to talk to 8)

The same happened with the FER club, the solo guy's didn't want the outfits but we put large numbers of outfits on the grid & joe public wanted to see them.

With the demise of the FER club went the sidecars. the classic club could well be in danger of that happening. Eventually like Forgotten era races they might find themselves "guesting" at other clubs meetings.

Ask any spectator if he wants to see sidecars racing & 99% of them will say yes. That goes for BSB right down to club races.
I think some people are under the misapprehension that 350's & post classic would wipe the floor with the "pure" classic outfits.
Not for one minute, the quick classic lads like Rob Cameron would be right up there with them

I heard this rumour too and think there is a tyre issue to work out?

Tripps, when I said pure classic I meant a bike that was within the rules of the classic club.
ie, post classic arn't. Maybe I picked my word wrong, maybe I should have said "true" classic.
