12 Inch tyres
Re: 12 Inch tyres
Simon,
you are right about the A008 being terrible, but I think in reality these were only ever best used as a fast road tyre.
The new generation of Yoko tyres are effectively factory cut slicks when you look at their overall appearance. They are very good tyres.
When I changed from Dunlop to Yoko, to be honest I did not notice any dramatic difference in grip levels, but lap times actually showed an improvement!! The real benefit was price! I recall at the time we were paying over £100 per tyre for the dunlops! and it was still a lottery as to whether you got a good one or not!
The real difference was in the wet as the yoko's were and still are far superior!!
I also understand the yoko's are available in different compounds from super soft to hard, so I think it might be worth putting the new wheels on hold? - You can have wheels made at a later date, we use mick barnby. He's the guy who makes the split rims used on the mini miglia race cars. His wheels are absolutely superb and not mega expensive in the grand scheme of things.
Sorry we all seem to be putting ideas in your head, but at this time the cheapest option for you would be to try the yoko's. I would go for Hard compound on the rear and chair, and either medium or soft on the front.
Hope this helps a little.

Re: 12 Inch tyres
Ok, just to let you all know. I am getting the 10" wheels made.
I just hope there's not lots of work to do to get them to fit my brake system.

Re: 12 Inch tyres
No, no no. I am certain that they will turn up and I will fit them in ten minutes.
Another 20 mins for the engine and we're off!
What could possibly go wrong?
