we generally run 11-13psi front(6-7" front),11-12psi rear(9-10" rear) and 18-26psi(6-7"chair).....thats with a 600cc engine fitted......plus maxton suspension....

My Shelbourne did exactly the same thing as yours..12 psi in the front tyre and over-tighten the headstock
That cured ours, the bearings only lasted a season but we change them every season anyway so that wasn't an issue

Hi Mick,

I think it was (at least partially caused by) the bumps at the end of the first straight (my F1 felt like driving a paint mixer on the way in and out of corner 1, fortunately my suspension seemed to handle the imperfections around the apex allowing me to turn with some confidence). By Sunday I kind of got used to it and mentally tuned it out. On the way down to corner 2 I had to short shift to avoid rear wheel hop (and spin and red-lining). Don't remember any bumps in the braking zone for corner 2 (maybe you were braking back where I was up shifting ;) )

Chris

My Imp developed the same problem at Snetterton it was so bad it cracked the frame. Nothing had been changed, and it had run with the same set up all season without problems, and without a steering damper. Anyone like to make a guess.

Possibly a hair line crack before you went to Snetterton?
Did you have an off or smack a curb/turtle the race before?

I found two hairline cracks, but only half way around the tubes. Thought they had been started by the vibes.

If the problem was solved by pumping the front tyre up ! Sounds like the front wheel was walking on the side walls, this happens with the long bikes if the front pressure is dropped to low. You need to run a wider rim, and this pulls the side wall of the tyre down, making the profile more round, you can then go back to the normal tyre pressure, or use a 160 wide front tyre insted of a 170 .
