If my aged memory banks are working on some of their cylinders, I think that it didn't work out well with the Gilera motors because some, if not all that he was promised were 'tired' and enough new replacement parts were not available for use.
Could be wrong though it's a long time ago........

You may well be right Carl as I now seem to recall there were a few mechanical problems at the end of the Scuderia Duke time. Great pity in a way because the idea was spot on :D

Had the pleasure of hearing and seeing Flo and the Gilera at The Hutch at Silverstone, 4 April 1964. Remember the day only too well, there and back on my Gold Flash outfit, we were marshalling on Copse and it snowed from before I left home until the following day :roll:

The only problem was that the Gilera factory were not too happy when Camathias kept over revving them and blowing them up. The spares were not being made any more as the solo's were not competitive any longer, so it did not reflect too kindly on the factory when Florian kept retiring from the races with a blown motor.
