There are a few bikes out there that are probably not able to race at CRMC, aiming at different markets? Just asking, seems a similar situation after a few months back where there were calls to let more bikes into CRMC and the call was that the CRMC members were happy how things were.
They look quite specifically set out to that purpose, not like they have stated 10-12" classic and 16" vintage wheelers by mistake.

Hi Steve,

We have been talking with Dick Hawes about the possibility of a European championship. I was hoping that Ben's CRSA could supply a venue for a British round.

I guess this is something different.

Oh well, never mind.

One of our bikes is 16" and 750cc (measured in Belgium with English witnesses)which is eligible and the other 13" 1007cc, we have supported the C.R.M.B ,S.C.R.M.C and the Southern 100 club ,who are very welcoming. However, these clubs have standardised rules but in Germany and France they have rules that promote the kind of outfits being prepared in those countries. It has been a talking point ,for some while,to regulate classes Europe wide. With this in mind ,by approaching the organisers of this series, an adaptation of a set of rules pertaining to recognised classes, incorporating all nations interests can be obtained, which will prevent issues like that of the Moto Guzzi winning the pre Tt several years back

just my two cents:

what wheelsize where most kneeler outfits running back in the time, I mean end of sixties / early seventies.
Just a guess, I think it won't be 13 inch?
I posted the link but don't know who's actually behind the idea of the championship, I just think they want to try to keep close to how things were in the period.
Must say that some of the new-build 'classic' outfits in the UK are (however much I drool over them) are more a sort of F350/F2 chassis fitted with a 'Classic' engine...
Could an idea be to adopt something like the solo Lawnsdone Cup rules, in other words you are allowed to run with more modern stuff on board like more gears or different wheel sizes, but the competitors who run 'original' 4 speed long stroke bikes on 19 inch wheels get a few extra points?

Classic European Sidecar Championship.

Following several meetings recently involving parties from France,Belgium,Holland,
England, Germany, and the I.O Man it has been decided to start a series in 2013

Whether points will be awarded on an individual basis, or a team basis has yet to be decided.

Classes are not settled settled perhaps 750cc and 1000cc, or 16" wheels and smaller wheels

For the first year points will be awarded according to the official results of one existing meeting

in each country.

Whether the winner will be a crew, or a country depends on how the rules are structured.

We already have delegates from most countries, and we hope Ben Gray will confirm his support

Entrants will be required to register and pay a nominal registration fee in January next,

which will be collected by each countries delegate and passed to the treasurer [probably in France]

All drivers, passengers, and interested parties are please invited to give their views on any matters.

Yours in Sport

Dick

That sounds good Dick. So the one mentioned earlier in this thread is not the championship you have been promoting?

I think Dick is talking about the same as the one in my opening post?

Thanks Dick - sounds great. I believe it is the same championship John speaks of but Dick has been a little more 'open' with the translation. It looks to me that the rules are in the formation stage and are not yet confirmed.

That would exclude many uk bikes that run 13" wheels.

Maybe, the best would be to contact Philippe Godin directly.

I suppose it begs the question that why are a significant amount of people running on 13" when most in the period would have been running on 10"

There is nothing currently running in the CRMC which has not been done in the sixties and early seventies, and the chassis are nothing like F350/2. Also there were a fair number of 13" wheel bikes in the period. Much wider tyres were also being used, so there is certainly a need to set a definitive set of rules as each different country has slightly different rules. I think a rep from each participating country should lias to set a precise set of rules for the proposed series.
