My dad raced solo's when I was a (KID). He then tried go-karts until he flipped one wore the helmet nearly through and broke his jaw. He then decided to do something less dangerous and bought a classic sidecar and stuck my brother and I onto it.That was 1987 and I've not been allowed to get off one since. :notworthy:

Dad had a dabble with forms of 3 wheels - circuits, sand racing & motocross (very briefly in all forms!), he much preferred playing with the engines for others :)
Uncle raced solos - circuits, TT & MGP :)

Dad is Jim Swain. 2 wheels early 60s. 3 wheels from mid 60s to about 73 - mostly Brands & Lydden. Then 4 wheels in a Formula Ford. Moved to the US and raced equivalent to our F2 cars (2007 = 3rd in US National Champs, 2008-9 = South Eastern US Champ). Officially retired now, but if he got the chance and the cash...

Parents didn't race but me big bruv Jim Mann started in 1965 as passenger to Dick Hawes getting a creditable 6th place finish at the 1969 TT on their Seeley Matchless machine. Jim also rode in two TTs with Roy Hanks also managing 6th in 1972 after which he retired from racing but is now back involved with the sport as team mentor to the Woods Cubed classic race team.
