I don't think I'd go with what John Renwick said, there was no love lost from John Renwick to George O'dell.
I would certainly have said it wasn't a question of money with O'dell.
After the copy chassis, George bought the Seymaz from Rolf Biland, which wasn't cheap. After the prang at Cadwell where the Seymaz was badly damaged. George had Terry Windle build him one of his chassis which George & Kenny Arthur campaigned, including winning the TT on it while the Seymaz was back in Switzerland being repaired. Doesn't sound to me like short of cash.

Ian, I think the chassis you are referring to was ridded by Roger Davies of Llanelli, who owned it after George O'Dell. He was passengered by Les George, who is no longer with us. It was fitted with a TZ700 engine.

As far as I know Roger only used it a few times, he sold the engine but kept the chassis for a few years, then I think sold it to Bob Powell in Port Talbot, from reading above sound like you bought it from Bob

I wonder why Renwick would lie to me, he has nothing to gain by that?

I wouldn't say lie Michel, we are talking 40 years ago so some things can get muddled in history.
As I said, when I spoke with John he wasn't impressed with George building the bike without his knowledge.

George arrived at Rouen for the first non championship International meeting in April, with his Renwick like outfit.
He had a monumental 'off' on the downhill section and ran for two or three hundred yards rubbing the right side of the fairing against the Armco. This practice excursion was the start of the end for the project....only George could
have got away that incident. IF YOU ARE UPSTAIRS GEORGE....I BET YOU ARE THE BRAVEST THERE. !!! :notworthy:
