Steve has kindly uploaded an album of pics in the Photos section of the 1st fibreglass outfit built by Mal and my big bruv Phil in 1975. Still looking for pics of the later version built for the Yamaha. Hope they're of interest.

The Weslake engine, sad that Harry Weslake never changed his attitude of " Harry knows best"
So much more could have come from the engine. The Hanks's & Boddice pooed their pants when it became reliable ( to a fashion)Pete Davis of Puma Engineering took over from where harry left off & made a better job of it. He developed it far more than harry :D

I remember it raised a few eyebrows when it first appeared on the scene in 1975 and when asked his opinion of the chassis Terry Windle said that he would reserve judgement untill he'd seen it go down Bray Hill for the first time with 10 gallons of fuel on board! However, it survived the ordeal unscathed and proved to work really well both on the short circuits and the roads.
Many race wins were taken at Croft against the likes of Ray Bell (konig), Geordie Bell with I think a very young Geoff as ballast, Ken Blacklock (Honda) and all the other regulars and also wins at Cadwell Park etc.
It finished 7th in its debut year at the Southern 100, Unfortunately mechanical gremlins forced them out of both 75 TT's, electrical problems in the first and a burst brake hose in the second at the end of Sulby straight, Scary!! I think the best TT result on the 2nd fibreglass chassis with the Yamaha engine was 5th in 78.
As to what happened to to the Weslake chassis i'm unsure but the Yam was indeed sold on to Ray Towse as previously mentioned by "realroadracer" but after that i don't know.
I'm not sure why Mal decided to go back to a tubular chassis but in 1979 he took delivery of the Ken Graham chassis which was if I remember correctly a replica of Mac Hobson's Ham Yam outfit.

I sometimes see Phil Spendlove driving about around Morecambe, the first chance I get to reaquaint myself with him and have a chat, I'll ask him if he has any pics of the bike, as has already been said, the bike was always well turned out and was a credit to Mal.

The best thing mal ever did was to scrap the fibreglass chassi and ask kenny graham to build him a tubular conventional chassi i passengered on both outfits and the tubular outfit with a 750 tz engine was a lot better than the fibre glass outfit with a tz engine in. phil spendlove
