In my opinion exactly why World sidecars are struggling now. How the hell can you call a race a World Sidecar race when you have teams allowed to race who are qualifiying 14 seconds off the pole time??????? If this is allowed to carry on then the future is going to just get worse.
It's bad for spectators, it's bad for real race teams who have the pace.
Dan mate if things carry on as in the last couple of years of course the slow guys who want to pay their money will be allowed to race.
I love Knockhill, it's a great, fantastic, proper racers / scratchers track but to run a World Championship meeting there is just plain stupidity. If that goes ahead just how many teams are you going to have finish on the same lap ?????? 2
It beats me mate. I am just very lucky to have done a couple of years at GP level with WSBK & before I raced the teams that raced at GP's were even more lucky.
I really really feel for teams like Tom/Ben & Tim/Dan .... They put so much effort and professionalizm into their racing and are not getting treated the same.
Let some good F2 teams out there to fill the grid & cause some embarresment by showing how to qualify ???

i agree but....
lets go back to the (proper)old days.
end of the 80's beging 90's
when old streuer was still racing people got lapt 4 times on long circuits.
also 14 till 20 sec a lap difference.
so not allot has changed in that way

how many teams would be on the grid if you dont have wild cards knockhillscottish teams would put a lot of you to shame with all the money you spend on your bikes

What do the likes of Tim or Ben think about Superside coming to Knockhill, would like to hear their comments since they have both been World Champs.Glad to see Kees with his vast experience giving his view.As for wild cards think some of them would embarass some teams.
Good luck to Knockhill in securing a round.

no matter how big or small a track is if you race at that level that is what you should be prepaired to deal with if you cant deal with back markers then you should play tennis because no matter what level of racing they will always be there if you dont allow thm then you dont have racing because were could you start unless you are good from the off plus side you will probable have agreat time and a big crowd

un less its snowing

I like the comparison of circuits Rob, the profile of the series seems to have struggled - but I have just been over the time sheets from this year and it would appear that only 2 people this season have qualified more than 10 seconds off Pole in any Superside round, (incidently in neither case did the competitior finish the race) - what was the largest gap in 2001?
I also think that the vast majority of competitors who enter Superside do so wishing to put on this level of professionalism - some of us are just working Damn hard to get up there with the likes of Ben/Tom and Tim/others
Dont forget it was not the F1 paddock - (british or world) that held parties in the paddock of high profile race meetings this year with the potential damage that could bring
...and whilst i am on image and a lesson in qualifying....
the only National or international race meeting i am aware of this year with a massive gap in qualifying was the Silverstone British F2 event where Tim outqualified the rest of THE ENTIRE GRID by 2.1 Seconds - so before we talk about embarassing qualifying? - no one is calling for radical reform in the F2 class just because one competitior can outclass the rest of the field to this degree (i might be wrong but i recall the gap was simmilarly large also at the Donington MotoGP event - I dont have that data)
(incidently i dont have complete records but since the FSRA has taken control of the F1 series has anyone outqualified every other competitor by a bigger gap than this?)
Please excuse this rather heartfelt response but i feel that we at CTR, and others such as Bennie and Kees have pushed ourselves massively to be part of a world championship this year - and I think we all really dislike seeing people belittle our efforts whilst not actually doing something to help the sport at the world level - which is how some posts make us feel - not specifically yours Rob

I must say that all the top level and international competitors that have made the trip to Knockhill for Euro or British rounds seem to enjoy themselves.
Why are there no soft, smooth, sunny southern circuits of England-shire on the list? How are the circuits selected?

Hiya mate, I don't know who you are (sorry) but you have hit the nail right on the head. It doesn't matter if you have a long tubular, F2, or a classic etc. If you are fast enough to qualify then you should be out there racing.
BUT if you are a team not up to a good enough pace then you should not be allowed on the grid.
This is why I think World rounds are struggling.

Rob i totally agree with you but there are less people racing sidecars so its luxury now.... You think superside is bad try Thruxton F1 rd three weeks ago!!
However I really dont think we should be knocking the Superside teams given they go all over europe without getting any expenses or prize money!!

I certainly wouldn't and never will travel because I can't afford it, but i take my hat off to people for trying to keep the sport going!! We all know Superside fundamentally isn't right but without the World Championship do we have a sport worth keeping?? Its worth pointing out that not everyone wants to race an F2 at the TT.
However given the dates are out early its definately getting better and gives a chance for the national championships to be organised around it as every other motorsport class is

Thought you had a sense of humour Kees. What we need is like i said some response from the likes of Tim ,Ben or any of the top runners.A top class driver should not worry about Knockhill being a short circuit, never heard Webbo,Tim or Ben complain about it.
