I'm not sure where we're going - just so long as any prospective classic sidecar competitor reading this tangentential thread is nothing other than completely convinced that the CRMC sidecar grid is The Place to race their classic sidecar - whatever engine/chassis you have you will be more than welcome to join in the fantastic racing and the friendly post-race cameraderie and social life.
Just enjoy racing whatever you happen to race!
However at the Brands Hatch Super Prix 1989 there were 3 P1 outfits, and in P2 (the only other class in the era) there were 10 BSA, 3 Triumphs, 1 Vincent, 7 Imps and 2 NSU, which is very nearly a 50/50 split.

Stop using big words Mr sidecarbloke
You are so true when you say the only place to race a classic sidecar is with the CRMC. We have made some good friends and the paddock atmosphere is brilliant
Lets all have a good and safe season

Re: What are we planing for 2010
Interesting points one and all but surely the real biggy has got to be push starts. It always used to be push starts in the classic period shouldn't that still be the case? didn't bludge do some lobbying to have them changed over to girly clutch starts, which cause more accident than pushstarts anyway. Brands anybody?
So maybe for next year at the AGM a proposal that we revert back to real classic racing and reintroduce push starts??? fun fun fun....,
Talk about going off topic
Oh yeah as for winter training in the canaries, bring it on.....

So surely that's for 2011? Off topic as you say. I can split it there.

Re: What are we planing for 2010
Push starts you have got to be joking!
If the sidecars are back at the Barry Sheene Festival at Scarborough that would be a complete disaster... that grids close anyway with clutch starts, there'd be broken legs and all sorts. I actually think you'd get more accidents like Brands, you'd get people flying through all over the shot and before you know it some poor unsuspecting orange IMP gets bashed into the gravel
However, I cant remember them push starting back in the olden days (Im only a spring chicken remember
) but thats just my opinion.
Bell im suprised you suggested them.... would you be able to push it without keeling over
And besides, we all know Ed gets a bit giddy when push starting... ill pick my seat now at the side of each track to watch our races then

Re: What are we planing for 2010
What have i started
Atleast it's been entertaining and showed how much passion people have for classic sidecar racing.
Can wait to get back out racing (sorry riding slowly) around a race track again very soon. After looking at prices and reading comments on here, i can see why the Imp is a VERY good choice. At the end of the day its numbers that count, who care's what engine is fitted (aslong as it is eligiable-ed...
sorry couldnt resit (( Mike started it)).
Roll on Pembrey, or maybe a test day at Mallory if anyone fancies meeting up on a wednesday in late fed/early march.
