To Matt and Shaun and any other prospective TT 2011 competitor, newcomer or experienced... if you want to get in some laps and get some supporting advice from more experienced drivers/passengers, contact me. I will find you accomodation and advice as often as you like. Dean Banks (2009) and Matt Dix (2010) came here more than once before their debuts, and both achieved best newcomer status. Knowledge is power and smooth is everything!
Geoff Bell... when I win the Lottery I will buy you a bike AND passenger for you..LOL!

yes its true...you cant beat track knowledge....the tt will bite you if you dont know where you are and if you go there un prepared then you will struggle...i did about 100 laps in a car and about 500 on dvd....i didnt at any time struggle with knowing whats next or where i was...at speed you can soon loose your way as things happen so quickly......we managed 102.763mph standing start lap...that was with traffic and several waved yellow flags.....i am still very impressed that i did that but it wouldnt have happened if i haddent done my homework......
helen will be happy to give up her time and put you up at night...just drive around and get the laps in ..you cant beat it in the end.....i will be there at some point with shaun and am sure that dean banks and pete alton will also...so if you need some help learning the course or just want the company the pm us or call helen.....we might not be the fastest but are happy to help any newcomers.....ta matt dix....oh and be sure that your passenger is in the same boat as they too will make the difference of finishing or not.....(if they ever stop moaning about their bruises)

gravelrashed wrote:how about gettin ride of the stupid mountain course license cos how does 6 meetings at darley moor with eddie nelson get you ready for a trip down bray hill no comparison
I get where your comin from and I for one would agree that is it a pain the the a**e as I struggled to get my meetings in due to one thing and another, but it's not the ACU who are saying you have gotta have 6 meetings under your belt you will find they are being dictated to by the insurance companies who are basically saying unless the the rider/passenger has competed in at least 6 meetings over the past year they will not insure them and therefore the ACU would be liable to be sued if someone who didn't have the required number off meetings came off and got injured.

Not monocoques unless you can afford a new one each year Craig?

Careful with this line of thought - 'some body' might decide that rides at certain 'easy' tracks don't count.

Used to be much simpler a few years ago when a passenger did not need a licence ...
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Yes Bob. I'll get your coat when you've finished don't pick it up now :P
The ACU recently seem to have been (and I'm sure my advisers will tell me the full story) forced into a position where safety and making sure that people are insurable is paramount. The ACU handbook now has become a lesson in insurability (is that a word?). I think they're doing very well considering how hard it would be to do a proper method statement for racing.
A risk assessment would put it all down the pan, so stick with a method statement for now ;)

And NO, you don't need CSCS Cards :D

i dont see an issue with 6 signitures...at least it means that you have been out.....but they should look at people more carefully that say have 4-5 signitures but have had injury or other exceptional reasons and ....have competed in a tt within the last year or two......that way they may get extra teams being formed .....

Oh, excellent, Eckhart. Will be good to see you again.
I think where the mountain course licence is concerned, we have to just accept it's there and get on with it. If we can't manage 6 races a year....???(French teams excepted)

(and Manx ones, there's only one circuit that's open without closing the roads and with the ferries hoy vey maybe 3 laps on the peugeot speedfight would be ok, it's more relevant than our GK having to go to Elvington)

I have heard that standard engines is being discussed. As for how easily that will be policed, well that's another matter!

Helen, great post, well done for starting it. We actually NEED greater numbers of there simply will be no sidecars at the TT. Let's not give the ACU a reason for scrapping the only racing class left.
