I've watched this developing for a while now and I think you're all over-reacting a little.

Eckart has a point about what goes on at World level, but it won't immediately affect the national championships and it will take even longer to affect club championships - that's the way of the world.

Instead of looking at the negative aspect, just think about the supply of relatively cheap engines that will suddenly become available out of the World Championship paddock. Surely that will make F1000 Sidecar racing a little bit cheaper for the majority of you - only the FIM teams will have to worry about taking the hit (and I do sympathise with them, but I don't see any of them on here complaining...) I say F1000 Sidecars as I guess you won't be able to call them F1 Sidecars once the change takes effect.

Look at the F2 standard head scenario. A lot of club racers got real bargains in the form of very nicely tuned heads at a knock down price when that happened. Has F600 sidecar racing died? No.

For what its worth I don't agree with the Speed = Danger theory, but the FIM seem to place enormous faith in it.

Relax and watch it pan out - it will be fine.

everywhere the grids are going down. If you have all in one engine regulations (600cc, long or short) , you can use your bike at all championships in the world. This is also the reason to bring all federations to one enginge rule. Well done at the Southeren, another step towards the future.
bye Eckart
There have been several accidents over the years where passengers have fallen out of 600cc bikes. This obviously means that 600cc engines are too powerful for the passengers to handle.
I suggest making the maximum size of engine 250cc, 4 stroke only, single cylinder with a restricted size inlet port.
If any accidents occur during the first year of the new formula a reduction to 125cc could be brought in.

Hi, as i said. it is politics. If you get ill or you die by smoking cigaretts, the government putting taxes up, making pictures on the boxes etc. On the other side they can make smoking illigal. A bit the same with sidecars. We had two passengers killed in the past two years, something has to be done, better than no sidecar world championship. Ok? The thing with the smaler grids i wxplained allready. we have now the chance to bring the full sidecar scene world wide into one direction. I know most of you dont see so far towards the future, but believe us, this is the right way. About the money and the costs. You all spend the maximum you can. Sometimes in the wrong things which do not make you faster, just the tuners richer...
bye eckart, still on standart engines but with a new fairing from Jason. We try the option lighter, but cant stop eating, but we know about it.

You slept all the way round on the 600.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Well if this does happen it will be the end to serious World Championship sidecar racing. Anyone who races in the big class will be very disappointed with a long 600 outfit. Its been tried many times before. The modern 600s make more power now but with no torque and you need this to drive a long outfit properly. ( Ask Ken Knapton ). Also where are the engines coming from. Theres nothing selling in the Supersport class at least not on the UK.it wont affect what anyone is doing away from the WORLD 600 SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP. The proper racing will be done elsewhere. As for buying second hand racing motors from solo teams ? They are scrap after each weekend in a solo so wont be very good in an outfit.

Serious world championship sidecar racing ended when the split from racing with GP solos, at the worlds top circuits took place.
In some ways, it may be best to eventually return to just one class of sidecar.
Then we may just see a return to the days of oversubscribed grids, with proper qualifying, at all meetings, GPs, Nationals and club racing.
I realise that initialy, this may be unpopular with some competitors, but it could just be the saviour of sidecar racing.
It is time to face facts, there are not enough sidecars competing regularly to sustain two classes.

Just a thought, perhaps this will allow conventional sidecars back ?also seems to me this is the start of combining the classes yo make one championship
