and more to add to chris's post, that carbed ireson lapped at over 100mph with the old man on it, imagine if it had 2 normal sized people! carbed engines lapped at well ovwe 110mph, it is a strange rule imho, which is irrelevent, as i also agree with Karl, im not racing so i dont really have a say. times change, and if the organisers set a rule then so be it, i remember being scruiteenered with dad, when there was still morning practice, twice a day and passing, then on the friday pm practice, we were failed because something was not lock wired, it never was at any session before hand either. Rules are rules and we cannot argue the case as competitors

Carbs are forbidden on page 74, at the beginning of the Appendix B …
and reappear on page 79 as they "may be entirely within the airbox".

As a sidecar fan and Marshal, all I want to see is a full grid and good racing, I don't give a monkeys if the motors are efi, carbed or on viagra.

I think basicaly old stuff isnt wanted at the TT. You dont see 12 year old solos at the event. To be honest I wouldnt want to race anything that wasnt pretty new on the Mountain Circuit. The older stuff can be used else where. The only problem has been the way it has been put in the regs with very little notice.

Have to disagree Geoff, I've been fortunate this year to ride an Ireson R6 , it's a very clean strong well looked after outfit , not sure of its age but its far capable of producing a good safe fast ride at the TT well over the ton, I think it's bloody annoying no carbs , as for the chassie , it would be sound to put a fuel injected motor in and compete at the TT , ifyournot carefull you'll end up a one chassie class and as a engineer I should have the judgement of what's safe or not , I agree on principle about modern machines , but some of us can't afford the luxury , I was hopeing this was a way back to race the island again but the goalposts keep moving
