Rob, I make you right about a new entry class. I remember a few years back when Gary golder tried a single (think it was a 500 mx motor) in an F2 Me and Pete Gibson did the pipe for him, but unfortunately the thing did'nt really have any guts....and never took off. not literally!

Any one into karting, will agree that a sealed engine formula really does work. Costs are kept to a minimum, and to be fair no real mechanical advantage can be gained, other than basic chassis set up etc...

Perhaps Steve-e this may warrant another thread or poll. I personally would go with something like 650 single, perhaps KTM or similar, no internal mods - just pipe and filter changes?????????
60 BHP ish I reckon, then add something like road legal tyres, similar to that used on our outfits at present. So no worries about changing wheels etc during meetings if the weather changes...

Re:last years AGM.....

not only were we not listened to and told to sit down with a promise of discussing our points later....which didn't happen,.....

we were hardly supported by some sidecar crews either......

infact.....there were one or two sidecar people coming out of the meeting and reporting back to others that...."bluddy Cameron.....he's saying/suggesting, this...that...+ the other now (i know this because Sarah was waiting for me in the bar at the next table )

so when it comes to this discussion, remember that Rob + I are looking at making the racing much more interesting to compete in and much more entertaining to watch and filling grids so that sidecars can speak up in future and be listened to which is difficult when grids are being subsidised by solo classes and parades And perhaps, if Rob + I were supported by all crews at last years AGM rather than some allowing their views on our 'modern classic' get in the way of their thoughts.....maybe the classic club would have had fuller grids this season :nixweiss: :d

I really hope there are big grids next season ~ everyone needs to listen and be listened to for this to happen 8)

Don't remember it being mentioned about post classics running on treads?? I've just spent nye on £1000 on slicks & wets, you telling me I've wasted my money????

this is old (2004) but surely the point of an age related class is that the rules shouldn't need to change - according to that slicks are permittable.
If not someone needs to update the rulebook

Andy Brown & myself wrote those rules out in 1996 I think it was, we arranged the wording a bit which had basically been in force since 1988. There is no need for them to change as Steve say's.

It means that they would not have to call a wet race, and all the fuss that entails, Just get on and race, If fitting treaded tyre's gets a years racing at good tracks fit them, they will be all in the same boat and they will be cheaper to buy

No .... Sorry.... For me if any other class of sidecar wants to race with the classics it's got to be treaded tyres as the classics are now...

It not only saves the teams money during the season it keeps a fair play field across the board.

You don't want to get things complicated ... Saves all that prating about swapping wheels and if you had wets aloud for other classes it would be pointless for the classics to even bother going out to race a wet race.

That treaded tyre rule has to stay.............

No problem at all Classic outfits in the classic period never ran slicks as they were not available so slicks are OUT 8) Nearest we ever got to running 'slicks' was on very worn tyres with minimal tread left

If this original rule is to be thrown out (sorry,'amended' like so many of the original rules) then you might just as well run an 'Open Classic' class and forget any of the remainning original ideas around which CRMC was founded

There are two basic CRMC sidecar groups, Group 1 & 2. There surely is not a problem running what are sometimes euphemistically called 'Post-Classic' machines as a separate third group as a grid filler. Hopefully this might lead over time to better separate grids and races for both types of machine.
