The transponder was fitted and tested when we entered the assembly area.

Nobody told me it wasn't working until after the race.

We did have a large number on the back left of the outfit.

Hi Simon, I was told you had no transponder - it was fitted to the fairing Anyhow I guess I know how you feel. Wonder if the number on the back, left was in a bad place for the time keepers to see Roll on Darley eh

No the transponder was fitted to the frame. Its brand new and was fully charged on Saturday morning. Maybe I should hire one at Darley as it may be faulty.

Looks like our number 3 outfit (Dave and Karl's) swallowed the insides of bits of its Webers. Destroyed the piston and engine cases holed back and front. Very expensive.

We are doing our best to get it ready for Darley. Fingers crossed.

I am not slagging off the club. We had a very enjoyable race.

Can't wait for Darley.

Simon just seen the pic and I think that is the problem. The time keepers are based in Race Control and your number would not have been seen by them as their view would have been only of the offside.

Bummer. Did you see that through the hole? Been in the garage on and off this evening oulling the motor apart. Got to make some decisions now about what we are going to do. Maybe Darley - time and money permitting.

Hi Simon I can understand you being dissapointed but that was one epic bit of spanner wielding. We were so glad to see you both arrive in the asembly area. Sue was just about to open the gate to let us all out and I remember her walking back to you and she did check your transponder so I don't understand why it didn't work and she showed you your grid position number. You deserved to go out after all that. We got pulled with no number on the right side. We raced most of last season without one and no one said anything at scrutineering on Friday evening, but we were told if it had been spotted before we went out for the first race on Saturday we would have been stopped. We had to stick a number on the rear tail section which was then covered by my foot and Kerry's hand. But it was a great weekend thanks to everyone see you all at Darley Reg and Kerry

Fairing wanst fitted as Simon and Dave where working there but's off trying to get the brakes bleed out, but they did and made it to the assembly area . They went out and had a fantastic race and a great 4th-ok they were disqualified but they got there race and had a fantastic battle with Phil and Dave. I remember Phil saying how suprised theyw ere at seeing Simon in assembly as when they went down Simon still had the front wheel out.
Just proves what a great bloke Simon and the other Team Gristwood boy's r, they never gave up all weekend and as Simon said they were up most of sat night working on the outfit. True racer's. Well done lad's.


Was a very good turn out of sidecar's and a great weekends racing. Well done the CRMC.

You are right Bob, no point in having rules if you don't stick to them.

My original point was that if Simon was permitted to leave the pit box & take his position on the grid, do a warm up lap and then start the race & not get black flagged throughout the race, then officials obviously deemed him and outfit as it was "un faired", fit to race.

To let the outfit complete the race and then throw them out because of a number plate not being displayed seems "petty" to me at a club meeting. If I were in Simon's shoes I would have been leaping up and down like a Jack Russell with it's ear cut off.

Why was he not black flagged or not permitted to start if they were going to disqualify him?
As Bob says "rules is rules" ... So why let the outfit start..

This wasn't a Grand Prix level meeting, the outfit wasn't a danger to other teams so why prat the bloke about? Give him his hard earned points that he should have.

If as Trips says there were only 12 starters on the grid that can not be too hard for lap scorers on a 1m 9sec lap ... Can it ? It's not exactly going to stretch them ?

It's all wrong, that's my personal view.

I don't know who you are illi but thank you for your respect of me n Bludge, that we genuinely appreciate. If you were racing with the Classic Club at the same time as us 2006 -2007 then you would have similar views I am sure. We tried our nuts off "bigging up" the CRMC and supported it to the hilt only to what seemed to me be shat all over at a piont when things were VERY FRAGILE with my father being very very ill. I did not at the time "play on it". A lot of our close racing friends knew the score though and what happened to us wasn't on. I have not listed all our problems but there's a lot who know.
Bludge and I had the opportunity to race Free of Charge at a Brands Hatch meeting but chose to support the CRMC and travel to ROY at Croft in 2006, Credit where credit is due, but if it's not, then tell it as it is.

As for our attendance at the 2006 AGM ..... ????? Well all I can say is that I doubt I will ever attend another ! That I could write 5 pages on?

Careful 151.......no 'wittering' (i don't think all matters have been trivial......infact i'd suggest most 'points raised' have been against individuals & for the good of the club....in our opinion)

The scrutineers looked at the braking sytem on my bike as it had a similar pedal to the bike that crashed. They asked me to come and have a look at the crashed bike and its braking systen which i did and i can say that Welsh Daph is 100% correct in her comments, it was definately an accident waiting to happen and im suprised it had lasted as long as it had.
