not every one can afford to do all rounds if you dont have wildcards grids will be low end off superside and they have wild cards in all other racing events cant see what the problem is you only have to look at craig chaplow entered superside and got quicker every round should have award for best new comer as for knockhill most of the lads run there with eurocup and jocktaylor and all love it it hope its on the calender

That's your opinion Dan, what about the rest of the guys?
Dates are out early for a change.
Knockhill is pro sidecars and will set aside the garages etc and usually provide generators for big sidecar events, the services up there are now excellent.
If the likes of Bill Davie and Belly are wild cards theres more chance of you and some series regulars getting in there way!
If it goes ahead support it and if it doesnt go well it wont happen again like lydden.

my father in law has been world champ 3 times....

so i think when vast experience means that i know nothing about sidecars he migth be rigth hey lol
For those of you who don't know - Kees is more of a sidecar anorack than I am :D Doesn't mean I always agree with him. We cannot compare Superside with MotoGP. Think more like British Touring Car/BSB and then lower your expectations a little ;) We have to Provide the ENTERTAINMENT factor.

As for Comparing Dates with now and 1999 -2003, it's not worth doing Rob! A lot of money was spent to be part of SBK - and the teams paid a lot of money to race in the series - you know that. Times have changed. The money isn't there anymore from either side to throw at a sport that doesn't generate any revenue, so no matter how hard it seems Motorsport can survive quite easily without sidecar racing.

So if Knockhill (like Castle Combe, Karlsgoga, Rijeka, Schleiz etc etc) actualy WANT sidecars for a WC race then fair play to them. Not everybody will want to race at these tracks - but as things are in the sport at the moment, I see little option (apart from deciding not to take part) as we are not going to be able to insist on racing at Assen, Brno, Silverstone, Monza, Leguna Seca and all the great tracks of the past.

The past produced some great times when the world wasn't ruled by Investors & Accountants - the future is where we are now........... That said, If anybody out there wins 10,000,000 Euros on the Lottery tomorrow, then I'm sure 10% of that would see sidecars back at all SBK rounds in 2010

Yes, but is Knockhill upto the Job?

It's a short lap so small grid!
I agree it's a brilliant place to ride around, but is it really a circuit to host a World Championship race.

I am not having a go at Knockhill, I would be saying the same thing if it was Darley, Lydden, Three Sisters or anywhere else with a lap of less than 2 miles.

They are plenty of circuits of the right sort of length, maybe BSB could host a round???

The lack of money and a willingness to accept any track, is exactly what will kill the World Championship!

Sidecars need the ENTERTAINMENT factor agreed, but one a 1 and a bit mile lap on the top of a flood prone mountain?

I dont think so....

Yes I believe Knockhill is up to he job or else there wouldnt have been negotiations to use the circuit.
Knockhill is a Sidecar friendly circuit who LIKE sidecars and give lots of support to them
You are a bit biased about the circuit Mr Boddice ( i am not slating you, every one i entitled to their own opinion)
It has not flooded for quite a few years now (when was the last time you raced there ?)
I have been to some bigger circuit south of the border that have had flooding problems
It cant be all that bad a circuit if BSB run a round there.
It has lots of run off and a high % of passing areas.
With regard to the death of the World Championship has it not has been in the decline for a few years.
Why be so NEGATIVE and just wish them WELL and see how it goes

IMHO the problem with all the people who are against having a round at Knockhill is the Geography . If it was somewhere down South it wouldnt be a problem.

Travelling to Knockhill really isn't the problem. Have you been to Rijeka? It's a fair ol' way to go and not as friendly on the way there as Knockhill is.
Calculate the distance teams travel to do Superside and you will understand it really isn't because Knockhill is all of 400mi from Calais (all teams seem to work out circuits from Calais, you're not going really racing til you get there :D )

It's not just the Worlds in decline, the whole sport has (another thread, probably one ianw will kill in minutes  ) been in decline until recently. I can feel a good vibe though from everything that it is picking up. It needs decent promotion and getting out to the general public not just the already blessed :D

Steve rightly believes that " It needs decent promotion and getting out to the general public not just the already blessed"

So right Steve :) Seems to have a touch of déja vue with me  As it's a Sunday I'll put my thought in a slightly ecclesiastical manner - 'Thus it was, is and (probably) shall be for evermore.'

I've done my bit in the past and am still out there trying to convert the ungodly in my own small way ;)

If there were a World round at Knockhill I think everyone would enjoy the experience. Knockhill is a top class circuit with a management team who will fall over backwards to help. The circuit and whichever club gets the job of organizing the event will be pro sidecar, thats for certain. Its a short lap but far superior to the Brands short circuit. Also it will be interesting to see where the lap record ends up,refering to the first three in the championship only :D :D :D .

I would like to agree with both Ian Guy , and Geoff Bell, both who have been around long enough whose views can be taken seriousley on this subject. Fair play to the likes of Craig Chapplow and Danny , they have got a good attitude and show good commitment , and did very well on their debuit year.
Like yourself Rob 151 , i know you did the "worlds " for a year or two , and i respect your views , but times have moved on and we as sidecar supporters should encourage any inishitve (excususe the spelling ) and get behind this wold championship job or it will end up like a gloryified Euro championship with four rounds in Germany and one at Anglessey. No dig intended Ekart.
