upto 1972 is cool, and i agree that these sidecars are stunning, and big credit to the likes of mr Richards and Bellas for making nice machines, but surly there must be room to have a class for the next period,ie 1972 -80(example)

Re: TIN CHASSIS
Bruce, The CRMC rules are spot on. They were formulated to give proper classic bikes, classic racing where they could be competitive racing against bikes of their period. I know you will remember what TZ 700/750s did to every other outfit on the grid. I use the TZ as an example. Let's leave thing's as they stand. I dont want to see history repeating itself, and I'm sure none of the current CRMC Sidecar crews do either.

Eddy thats spot on,but if the machine mikes trying to build is of that period then surely that should be allowed,
im very fond of the new classics, infact if i could afford one i would love a BMW,rather than an F2,which i believe has run its class, and have some fun with you guys, perhaps oneday.

Re: TIN CHASSIS
I agree with Bruce and are we now in danger of everyone needing a 1300cc BMW to be in with a chance of winning, or are we going to insist on all BMWs being Rennsport replicas, including right hand sidecar.
Whilst I agree with Eddy that TZs were really a bad thing, surely they were just another evolution, as were Imps, as were twins, as were overhead valves, if it was built and raced in the period, it should be allowed.

I dont think Eddy means the TZ era was a bad thing. Eddy had the finance (through his own hard work) to make a good job of it. The TZs were probably the most exiting period in sidecar racing. I still dont know how we all managed to make ends meet but we did and it was good.
Then things got really silly with the ADMs and Bilands V4 things.

Re: TIN CHASSIS
Your right Geoff. The TZ's were great, but they killed every other model of sidecar stone dead.
Mike Richards loves classic racing, and would not want to spoil it. His bikes are superb, and if he want's to fabricate them as Terry, and others did I dont see a problem with that, as long as it is done within CRMC rules.

Agree with you on both counts Eddy. From an outsiders point of view (classic wise), it all looks very healthy as it is. The bikes now being Built by Mike, Rod Bellas and Tony Baker are all beautiful bits of kit and are much better than the origionals anyway.

I agree with Eddy and Geoff, that as long as it is within the rules, it should be allowed but the rules should be made and applied fairly to everything within the era designated.
I have the greatest repect for Eddy and indeed everyone that raced JPXs, ADMs and Swissautos, because as you say Geoff how people made ends meet, is beyond me.

Re: TIN CHASSIS
As said at the start I have enquiry to build a Rudi Kruth rep with a Saab instead of a Cresent engine
I just wanted to know would it be CMRC eligible ? Also are fabricated beams eligible as my imp (many years ago) was turned away for it ?
I would still build my bikes out of round tube as I believe this is what most teams used, also round tube is easier to repair after a shunt
It doesnt bother me either way
I dont want to make something (time, effort and money) that is not suitable for the rules. Been down that road before

Re: TIN CHASSIS
Id Really love to see another SAAB out there, but with the horsepower the BMWs and the IMPS are putting out now,I think it would be a waste of time.A good IMP puts out more bhp than our standard Tz750 these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(110bhp).Think that its now probably cheaper to do F2 than classic racing now.
Having said that I must say that the current eligibility guy is doing a very good job,but sad to relate, that,as proper original classics can no longer be compettitve in period 3(unless its an Imp with a skilled rider aboard),we have been priced out of the class, and will continue with the VMCC.
