For what it's worth, my uninformed opinion is that the new regulations have been unneccessarily costly, haven't achieved any greater reliability and no great reductions in speed.
The amount of money required to achieve a relatively small increase in speed is disproportionately high, thus handing the advantages to the few with the big money. It would also appear that the lengths to which people are prepared to go to 'bend/stretch' the rules is greater than the desire of the organisers to police the class, allegedly. I do not suggest that cheating is widespread but I wonder whether the disincentives were sufficiently strong to deter some.

People will cheat and only stop if they are sailing too close to the wind or are caught.
The latter may never happen as the authorities possibly have not got the means or the time to implement there own rules.

Why is it not a rule that the top 3 of all the winning races at a prestigious event sutch as the tt, are not allowed to be returned until the bikes, engines are checked for legality within there class.

It seems like the authoraties are allegedly only interested in the positive side of things as to almost brush all negativity under the carpet in many events and sports.

During my last five years at the TT I was one of the sidecar reps which meant you were part of the TT Jury. All aspects of the event were disscussed on a daily basis. The top three plus one at random were always stripped to be checked. That meant the head came off wether you liked it or not. Surely that must still be the case ?

Top three in both races were stripped, the riders and team members did the stripping and were present while the other rwo bikes were stripped, all that was found and subsequently said was witnessed by all. I'd estimate at least 12 people witnessed what was found. The results stand, strange!

Hopefully the FSRA will be talking with the ACU and the organisers and working something out to get it sorted. I can imagine what the next committee meeting will be like. Good Luck :D

Have almost drunk enough to say what I really think, hope the mods are ready :D

Seems there are so many people, racers+team members+race engine builders+technical staff etc who know first hand what was found. The tt organisers say the result stands. Lessons to be learned.
Strip engines BEFORE allowed on track, then seal it. Same with spare engines but the organisers store them until a team needs it. That way no one can say or do to cheat.

I have followed this thread with interest and would like to add a comment. Standard engine rule as it stands cannot be policed properly. It has got to be totally standard engines as Alan Richardson says or it is open to abuse . Cheating has allways been about , we all know who cheated years ago at the TT and we all know now so whats the difference . The punishment has got to be severe , ie loss of racing licence from all competitions for five years, that would be a good deterent imo

Rubbish. The recent disqualifications of McAdoo Kawasaki and TAS Suzuki in the Supersport 600 class seem to be forgotten. If you cheat and your caught you are out no matter who you are.

This is pauls response and im sure he knows what went on unless someone else knows different why should we assume there was a wrong doing its pure speculation. :notworthy:

I have to agree with you Dean. Take it as a given that THE BIGGEST race in the season should be policed properly.
But if you don't mind, it's much better for forum traffic if we could carry on talking rubbish instead and listening to doubters :D
