PS - back in the early 90s when the 600s were introduced - you could indeed get 3 or 4 - (or even more) for that - I wasn't ever convinced it was a good idea - then - or now... (some probably had a bit of tail-board paint on them)
I'd very much like to hear a bit more about those "other" engines though - what spares availability is - and prices etc - mind you - until a large number of people can be convinced that the 2 stroke engine has developed beyond the Bantam (while they were looking elsewhere) - we're wasting our time....

The year before last I went to a lot of trouble (for my then sponsor) to be sure that an outfit with this type of engine would be race-able in the open SideCar class. I was told by the SACU that as long as all other regs were observed that there would be no problem with them. I then asked Mr Eddie Nelson If a bike like this would be ok at Darley and he said exactly the same thing.

Remember this would only be good in an 'open class' and therefore you cant win much. Except every SideCar lap record at the circuits that you can go to.

I think that although we all often speak about innovation and being different the truth is that it's very few folk that want to stick their necks out that far!

Ng sidecar class is open or f2 so you could win that class as well.
I'm sure a lot of club classes are open not f1.

Another question regarding the Windle; I have to replace a slightly bent chassis body mount. My question is what kind of tubing was used on the Windle chassis, DOM mild steel or 4130 Chro-Mo. Thanks all!
