Bob B - you are absolutely right - I remember the welding equipment getting rolled out the first time I rode with Jack and I thought omygawd, what is going to break ?
Anyway, I am enclosing some pics here. The scans were huge so I've shrunk them down to make them visible on the screen. I may have to put them in 2 postings (6 pix in all) and I am adding unorf6.jpg out of sheer vanity because it is the nicest picture I have ever seen of myself :witch:

Could one of the mods change my permissions so I can at least see my own pics ? I get a message saying "You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post". :?:

Here are the other three pix.

My first encounter with the Unorfordox: 15 March 1975, my first meeting at Snetterton. Waiting in the collecting area on a 650 Triumph. Thought it was the nerves making my legs shake, but the earth was moving because the Unorfordox had pulled up behind me. Remember the starting rollers used in the attempts to start it in the paddock, no mean feat in itself, and a major achievement if it did a lap or two. Amazing machine.

Considering that it was a push start off the line in those days truly amazing. :o

Bob B wrote:1) unload welding bottles,
We employed his services with those welding bottles on many occasions. Just a couple of bob for doing a really good job as I recall. He always acknowledged payment with a big grin and "cheers chief". He was always smiling, even when the beast exploded and con-rods poked out of the side of the block just warming it up in the paddock!

If I remember correctly, we had a bit of a handicap start at a couple of races because we needed to start the race with the engine running. Mind you, the bike was a handicap in itself

Agree with Dane IIRC, Jack started from the back row of the grid either with a time penalty after the others had gone or something like 100 yards behind the back row due to a running engine start dispensation.

i remember jack and unorfordox at varios circuits,if it was in the mix at the first corner everybody used to keep their distance as it was unpredictable on the brakes,it squirmed all over the place probably due to eng being to left of jack.it was very quick in a straight line though and the sound was great. hello Dane. can anyone tell an old dinasour how to open the attatchments. John

When I first posted the images and someone changed my permissions I was able to see the images. Now I can't see them either, just "Attachment" and the name of the image. Someone should correct the board config settings to "view images".

Reading my posting above reminds me of a German translation of a windows "Help" tip in (the German language version of) Windows 98 which translates back into English to "When Data is stored as Data in the folder named "Data", the Data shall be considered to be Data until renamed as Data".
