split from So.........

Unread post by jan71 »

Well pending an alledged onslaught from numerous new BMW things, I thought I'd try turbo charged 1500cc imp on cut slicks and hope no-one notices

On a serious note still have bikes in bits and no money as I've started new business venture, so probably not playing this year..

Good luck to all those who are!!!

Think the turbo may upset a few of the crusties on here  Try using a blower instead ;) Think you may also need a regular supply of head gaskets ....... :lachtot: :lachtot: :lachtot:
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

would like to add that ive took delivery of my new mre bmw classic sidecar that like 99%of sidecars in the club were not built before 1972 but all parts fitted were around and fitted before 1972.and chassis is a replica of a 1972 bike.if we all looked round for a genuine chassis no racing would be happening.sorry to burst bubbles but very few bikes racing were made b4 72.so get over it

so how about a "Lansdowne" series for the classic sidecars, would that be something to try out?

Interesting idea............but how would you 'police' it? I think the arguing over the modern vs genuine is the least of the problems that classic sidecar racing faces. What we need is bums on seats. Come on people lets get out there!

well over here classic sidecar racing is booming...correction...the meetings on the street tracks are not run as races but under the banner of 'regularity demonstrations' that saves a lot of hassle for the organisers and keeps it cheap.
Most meetings are low profile regarding publicity and spectators and so on.
The exception to the rule is Barneveld, run on a industrial estate on a saturday, all solo classes plus sidecars, during lunch break most of the years they have a stunt team wo gives a demo or some supermotards that put up a nice show.
And there's also a big autojumble to go with it.
It's always third weekend of July, so very hot most of the time.
Spectators: 10 to 15000! :D :o
It's supposed to be the fourth biggest motorsport event in Holland regarding spectators...
And they all wait for the last class of the day...yes the sidecars :)

I know what you mean sidecarracing. I go out to the road races at Chimay every year and it is awesome. Loads of sidecars :) Perhaps that is the next step?
