Cadwell 9 & 10th August

Unread post by MikeB »

Does anybody know if there will be a practice on the friday evening? I know that motorsportvision have it as a track evening but i'm not sure if its open to sidecars. I dont suppose anybody will notice if we just slip out with one of the groups :D :D

Mike, I would not mind betting it will be situation notamal. I.e no sidecars allowed. Shame really as would have been good to have some extra laps for 'running on'. Can't wait. Lets hope its a good one :D

It is reported on the CRMC forum that MSV have said they will have sidecar practise on the Friday before Snetterton if they get a minimum of 10 outfits to sign up.

Seems fair enough.

Not really. Pembrey said the same and it was hard to believe but he would rather have the circuit empty than allow less than 10 outfits out  Will keep my fingers crossed that it will happen.

No, the issue is that they are not prepared to give up time that solos could use for a couple of sidecars.

Is that not common sense?

If we want to have a practise we need to email Terry at webmaster@crmc.co.uk to confirm our attendance.

If we get over ten outfits the cost will go down. Basically, they want £990 for one hour of track time.

That is as maybe but the fact remains that the certain circuit in Wales was happy for the circuit to be empty rather than let a handful of outfits out. And as nice as it maybe I am not prepared to pay £99 for an hours track time (£1.65 per minute!) when Mallory Park charge under £50 for the same!

Try instead costing it on the basis of laps done per session Ian - the quicker you go the cheaper each lap is

...i guess practice for some is more an issue of learning the track, learning more about the bike, driver/passenger getting used to each other, getting lap times down to be more competitive..... ...and not the cost :!:

...but then again....the cost per weekends racing is always going to be an issue to some...

...just like the cost of fuel to get to a meeting (& so distance to venue will determine if a team can afford to go)

the fact remains that CRMC are struggling to attract enough sidecars to stage a race and so more than ten outfits ~ £50 or £99 ~ for a practice is hopeful 8-)

Now, it could be a Tuesday practice at Chimay or Gedinne & there would be enough to stage a few races

i know some teams are heading to far away circuits in their sprinter vans rather than their transporters to save £££ on fuel

Please remember it is not the CRMC that is organising the practise but MSV.

Ian, I understand your frustration but if we are to have any hope of improving our lot we will have to put our money where our mouth is. ie. If we want to practise we will have to pay the going rate. £99 does seem expensive compared to Mallory but there must be reason Mallory is the only circuit that can offer cheap regular practise sessions.

The more we can establish a presence at the practise sessions the more it will be the norm to organise them.

That said, I don't know if I can make Friday before Snetterton. If I can't go and there is no practise it is our own fault for not attending not the CRMC or MSV.

BTW, Bob, it will cost me about £33 a lap on present form so the rest of you are quids in by comparison. ;)

Hi all,

It was originally a question/statement about getting out for a practice on the Friday before the weekend CRMC meet. To be honest I sort of knew the answer before hand but you never know there may have been somebody who had a contact at msv to put on a couple of 15minute sessions for s/cars - I probably couldn't manage more than that anyway :D :D - no comment from you bludge

As for the cost of it all I would suggest you look at it as smiles per pound or euro if you like and then I'll suggest something else - stop racing and then try and find something else with a bigger grin factor and trust me you wont...... the only thing that gives you the same fun you can get for free.....   unless you're real fugly then maybe it'll cost you
See you at the weekend (cant wait..)

Mike, You are not wrong but can't help feeling a top class hooker would be almost as much fun...................and quite probably cheaper
