It sounds as if they want to sub it out to do a professional job ? Which was one of the subjects raised at the FSRA AGM, to do it right it is a full time job.

It IS a full time job to do it professionally and people will very soon realise how lucky we have been to have had Pat around for so long, so how can they afford to Mike? With 300 members of the fsra (probably going off the original topic but we'll get back there later) how are we going to raise enough funds to pay even 1 person part time? 15K a year between 300 people is a big hike in membership, and full time would be even more prohibitive.

So how can the CRMC be putting that out to tender, who would take it on and how do they get the funds to pay for it. Or more as I would've should've said, are they just reminding people that it's a thankless task and be greatful that what you have now is going to cost you less than these tenders?

This is the standard work for any race secretary. We are very lucky at NEMCRC to have Sharon Taylor AND a good commitee. It would be a poor club that left all that workload to one person. Pat Hamblin is the face of the FSRA and if it hadnt been for her staying power over the years the FSRA wouldnt be where it is today. However Pat will be the first to tell others she has a good commitee to work with. Your correct Steve when you say the club cant afford to pay someone to do the job full time. However it will be difficult to find someone who will do the job for nothing as Pat has done over the years, but regardless sidecar racing will carry on. It was here a long time beforehand.

It's a job that has grown exponentially since the 70s when I did it and you just made up some sheets, filled in names as the forms (typed up on a waxed template, then roneod by hand!) came back.
Passes were little cardboard squares and everything was written, but there wasn't a lot of it... none of this next of kin stuff, or massive paperwork for the ACU, insurers etc.
Somewhere I have the entire paperwork for a Crimond meeting... probably got some good autographs there!
Wouldn't fancy doing it now, from the amount of bureaucracy I see Sarah dealing with at the Andreas Club.

Doesnt the NEW ERA club have a full time person ? I think they used to, I wonder how do they afford it ? Could or should the ACU help out a bit, the amount sidecar racers have put coffers into them over the years a bit of pay back wouldnt hurt.
