Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
Mmm interesting as we have been running 24 and if you look at the various pics of us the poor old sidecar wheel looks a little 'strained'. Any other teams wish to divulge?

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
IIRC on a 10" we ran 18psi after a bit of fiddling about

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
Judging by so few replies it must be the most secret information! Having tried 24 or so am goiong give Ian's suggestion of 26 next time out and if we get time lower to Dave's suggestion too and compare. Good job the chair wheel is easy to get at

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
It depends on the make of the tyre. Dunlops have stiff walls, and grip less so an ideal pressure if you dont want the bike crabbing on right handers is circa 18lbs.
The Yokahama works like it should (It grips) but you dont need too much grip on right-handers so a good pressure is anything between 26/32lbs. Mallory on a hot day maybe a touch more.

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
Cheers Eddy. We run the Yokohamas (cant afford Dunlops!). Given the way the tyre looks like it deforms in the corners is what prompted this question. Will have a go at running a harder pressure and see what occurs. Thanks again

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
We run 26, but that's because that's what Ian and Ed suggested.

Re: Sidecar wheel tyre pressure?
If you run solid tyres like we do the pressure is immaterial
They didn't invent pneumatic tyres until 1905
