We had a guest stay in one of the cottages with a Jag 2inch of snow and he couldnt move

new cars are useless !
No snow chains 4x4 seams to handle it

doesn't seem to like going over 70mph in four wheel drive though !

Wouldn't use snow chains with alloys. Would need a second set of wheels.
Most countries that have a greater difference in season's the people tend to have summer wheels all nice alloys etc, and the winter wheels, good old steel wheels with winter tyres.
The Scandibavian countries never seem to suffer, and they get a far greater amount of snow than the UK. Never heard of Stockholm airport being closed because of snow, been there in a snow storm and watched them clearing the runways.

TA

If it's any help to anyone, a Volvo does superb handbrake turns on roundabouts in the snow

If you're going quick enough you can keep the momentum up all the way round.. 'to be taken responsibly' of course
