TT Newcomers Award
I know I'm supposed to know these things but...in this year's regs. it states 'the top three in each class will be awarded....' Is the 'top three' bit new?
Second question: Is the above for EACH race or overall?
Next question! Who has won it the last few years?
2009 Dean Banks and Nigel Brogan, 2008 Mark Brown and Davy Brown, 2007 ???
Seem to recall Simon Neary won it in 2002 with Gary Partridge but they retired in race two????

Re: TT Newcomers Award
That "top 3" bit sounds a bit odd! Also, it was an overall thing in the past. Please note also, if you are a newcomer... it only applies if the team are both newcomers. At the rate things are going there'll be nobody qualifying!!

Re: TT Newcomers Award
Sorry Dips, should have remembered you and Dougie. Re Dan in 2002 I seem to recall that they were the best to finish both races but checking the two sets of results, Simon and Gary were best in race 1(retired in race 2) and Glyn Jones with Dan Sayle best in race 2 (retired in race 1). Perhaps when Dan C gets up this week he will tell all
As for 2003,4,5,6???? Methinks they may have changed the 'overall' bit over the years.

Re: TT Newcomers Award
Surely, by the time the second race comes around you're not a Newcomer! (assuming you did the first race).
I'll get me anorak........

I'll get me anorak........
So how long have I had these voices in my head, I hear you ask?

Re: TT Newcomers Award
I asked the oracle, and this is the answer..."Highest place finish".
I have emailed back to double check that 2x 3rds isn't better than a 2nd and a dnf... haven't heard back yet. However, that anorak is probably right... best place in first race should be the answer??

Re: TT Newcomers Award
Think I shall wait until the award is announced and then endeavour to work out how the decision was arrived at

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Re: TT Newcomers Award
Finally got the ruling from the horse's mouth.....
Settle an argument?
Can you clarify how the best newcomer in sidecars is decided? Is it over both races, highest placing or what?
Highest place finish
In either race... rather than over the two? So a 2nd and a DNF beats 2 thirds, for example?
Yes
So... there you have it... single highest place from the two races... it's official

Re: TT Newcomers Award
i reckon there should be a newcomers award or an individual thats new to the island.i only say this as there are a few teams that have newcomer drivers but experienced passengers.carl/dips nige mayers/joe shardlow.at least they would have something to show for there efforts, after all it takes balls to race over there
