Folks,
First of all..my deepest sympathies to the riders who tragically lost their lives during racing and bestest wishes to those who were injured chasing their dreams. I've just come back from the Island after practice week and am delighted to have not lifted a finger there and had a brilliant week on an amazing island...well apart from the lad who parted company with his ZX12R on the coast road on his way home from the Friday practice session...which fortunately resulted in a knee injury but nothing more sinister.
So, the reason for my post. As part of our medical training for motorbike events in the North West (and beyond) we identified a need a couple of weeks ago for some training in how to extricate people still on their sidecar. This followed an incident where a sidecar outfit crashed and flipped and the rider was still in position when we got to him requiring extrication whilst maintaining the riders head and neck immobilisation. Fortunately both of them were fine (apart from a compound wallet fracture) but we've never really spent much time practising this aspect of racing mainly due to the problems re-creating the situation.
So...does anyone here (or anyone you know) have an old chasis available to donate to us so we can train our Ambulance crews in what to do should the worst happen. We'll come and collect it and I promise it'll get looked after.
For more information, questions or an offer...please PM me for full contact details/email/mobile number etc.
Thank you!
Simon
