Have just returned from a fantastic trip tp Spa for the Bikers Classics meeting where I passengered Ralph Bonhorst for 3 laps, ( yes,at 85 years old I was only a "passenger" this time :D 8-) ) I met the wonderful photographer Wolfgang Gruber. He told me that the following racers have now passed away. Hillebrand,Grunwald, Schneider,Strauss,Faust,Remmert,Fritz Cron, the two Milanis, and Frigerio. My thanks to Eric Oliver's son Roger for doing all the driving.

No Stan, i wasn't there but i got talking to a mum from school last week & we were chatting about what we'd both been doing at the weekend......I said i'd been racing at Snetterton & she said she'd been to a 'motorcycle event' where she'd met a really nice chap who used to race sidecars :D

So, i asked a few questions.....as you do.....trying to work out who it was  and i said.....i think it might have been Stan Dibbon....

She says....that name sounds familiar.....so i said......( + i'm not sure why i asked this before my next question....but i did!)....
....was there any mention of supermarket shopping trolly's.....?

She says.....'OOOOH YES'.........then a pause & then she says.....'SUPERMARKET SWEEP'... :? :?

So i looked at her (obviously confused)....& she says....oh, i don't know... :?

So then i asked her if he (you) used to passenger Eric Oliver & then she said yes definatly

Stan, if i had been there, i would have come & said hello without a doubt 8-) (i only live 3m away)

Hi Andy. If you're only 3m away, perhaps we could meet up in the Trout for a beer. :)

Stan Dibben , it is pleasure to even reply to one of your posts on this forum, I can not understand why on earth the people at the IOM TT do not show its appreciation of home grown true road racers legends .

I hope you get an invite to the Festival of Sidecars at Mallory, so I can shake your hand and have a photo for my album...

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,

PS, Oh yes and can you bring some of those other old buggers with you who made it to Spa.....

Some of the old b---ers are not so old, at least not as ancient as me. The likes of Steve Webster and Paul Woodhead,Alain Michel and quite a few others. Such a shame so few of the old sidecar "riders" (commonly called passengers) don't attend. I'm hoping to get to Mallory, but no too sure if I'll make it. Thanks for your kind comments.
