can anyone name the rider ??

hi, can anyone name the rider on the white bike , i have seen this photo of my dad for years but we have no idea who the other rider is ?? its 1978.

Sorry, but the riders listed for 1978 were 25 Roy Hanks & Donny Williams, 26 Tony Wakefield and Eddie Kiff, The year is actually 1977 25 Rodger Dutton & Tony Wright 700 Yamaha, 26 Adrian Rivett & Richard Rawlings 980 BMW.

It was the only year that a 4 lap sidecar race was held with a compulsary pit stop !!

thanks for that , i can remember the pit stop in that race , i was only 7 but i remember getting the thumbs up from dad as i looked throught the fence. thanks

wow, there is a lot of these old bikes still around then, the rivett bike does look a bit out of date compaired to dads yamaha, it must have been one of the last bmw's being raced , but looking at results for the year he did well on it, 15th.

just looking at 1977 sidecar race on tt website , 32 dnfs in race 1 and 35 dnfs in race 2, blimey there must have been sidecar parked up everwhere ?

There are 76 starters listed in the race guide for 1977 and 86 for 1978 and 91 for the 1979 race. :ugeek: :ugeek:

1977 had all these, a few more manufacturers than can be seen today except at classic meetings

22 Yamaha's
12 Suzuki's
12 Konig's
8 Kawasaki's
5 Imp's
3 BMW's
3 Laverda's
2 British Magnum's
2 Weslake's
1 BSA
1 Honda
1 Fiat
1 MKM prob Konig
1 JTR prob Imp
1 BAT prob Suzuki

I guess count the finishers and dnf's on this list Ed? I make it 79, anyone care to check?
