Would this engine be eligible to race in Classic Club meetings?
It's a 1971 Harley Davidson Sputhe Ironhead Sportster motor, 1290cc.
There are a few HD Ironhead outfits raced on the Continent.

Just spotted this before I head off to Snetterton.
First reaction - are you serious? If not why not? Richard and Kim run an ironhead Harley Davidson in Europe and have also raced with us and the Vintage Club.
I will speak to people who know more than I over the weekend. Two things immediately spring to mind - 1) it's standard capacity is very near the limit, a quick over-bore and it would be past, and 2) the size of frame required to absorb the vibration! Is it going into an existing frame or are you having a frame built to accommodate it? If you are having one built please be aware of the CRMC eligibility rules, width of tyres etc and the fact that the thing should look like it came from the era.
Apart from that - it's different - bring it on!
Must dash
Ian

Richard and Kim's website

They are lovely people and I'm sure they would be happy to offer any help they can.
They both speak near-perfect English.

Of course its eligible, I`ve still got my Classic Club eligibility certificate from when I built mine although mine has a genuine XR750 engine in it
