I have found a diagram of the B.R.M. outfit which Dick Hawes raced in the only four lap sidecar T.T. race. Dick described it as rather ill-handling and the only way to get round the T.T. circuit was to stick to the white line in the middle of the road as the machine had a mind of its own !

I dont know what year Steve, but that thing ended up hanging on the wall of Sabre engineering in Bawtry. One of Fred and Daves souvineers.

Anyone who rode those early wobbly wheelers at the TT deserved a medal the size of a bin lid. They must have been terrifying. What were they like Steve ? (Webbo)

The TT was 1977 !
Gerry Boret had 2 similar Hub Centre outfits made, for 1976 season, called BRS,but "Boret Racing Special",IIRC,Derek Bayley had the other one,and persevered with it from 1976 to until the end of 1978 season.I think Gerry + Nick retired at the end of the 1976 season.
Derek provided the Yamaha engine for a template, after the Brands October meeting at the end of the 1975 season,as Gerry and Nick were still using Renwick Konig's in 1975.
Derek's outfit was sold to Keiron Kavanagh ,who did Bemsee/Lydden meetings in 1979 with a Suzuki.

Hi
there is something simular in Germany. It was build by... i dont know.
Rolf Steinhausen tried it once in the 70s. impossible to ride it staight on the track. It is now at classic meetings, and it goes. Not fast but looks very very nice and tidy.
sidecarwheel steered as well.

Al Steve had the first one BRM made it was a tubular frame, Dick Hawes was the first monocoque. Dont know of any more BRM.s
I think the one Steve had handled like an Austin Allegro

he chopped off the wobbley wheel and put on a set of forks

Bill Cooper attempted to sort the handling of the BRM out for Dick to no avail. He raced it at a couple of meetings and I believe actually crashed it.The enclosed photo is at Donnington in 1976 or 77, Bill is the third bike in the photo and the second bike I think is Dick on the Treson.

Oh memories!
I remember that drawing first time around (before I was born I guess!!!!) Was it from MotorCycle Weekly? They did quite a few detailed info stuff on sidecars back then I think? Looked a million miles away from what my father was riding at the time. But I was completely hooked first time i saw a picture of the Renwick-Konig of the Boret Brothers in 73-74?
BTW: message to John Renwick. if the Konig is still running, any chance of a lap on it at the Festival this year????? Boyhood dream to fulfill!!!!

Alex McFadzean and I rode the BRM in the first 4 lap race at the TT but the monocoque broke and the rear chain was
the only thing holding it together. As we were on really good top start money [good old days] we made a start in the
second race but had the van parked in the slip road at Braddan Bridge to collect us.
Bill Cooper borrowed it to try to make it handle but crashed it twice. I then borrowed his Difazio centre hub outfit
for the B2B British Grand Prix passengered by Bill Boldison. We were going good until it rained. We then crashed
twice on the same lap,the second time it spun off into a corn field in top gear and we couldnt find it.
I have ridden several long centre hub outfits, the Ireson being the best by far, but the Difazio was a remarkable
machine bearing in mind short outfits are normally far more nervous.
