Anyone remember John.
Think he was from Lincoln, regular competitor at Cadwell in the mid to late 60's

I remember John well, he was a true gentleman and an innovator; always willing to help you. As this programme (click picture to enlarge) from the International meeting at Cadwell Park shows, John was still racing in 1973 with an Imp outfit. He previously raced Vincents and was one of the first to use hub centre steering.

The Crescent is a 500cc three cylinder two stroke marine engine, it was used by quite a few sidecar competitors from as early as 1964,the best known being Rudi Kurth.

This photo from the 1974 TT (500 race) shows number 83 John Davis on his Crescent outfit at Quarter Bridge. Twenty of the outfits which entered this race used two stroke motors derived from the Marine industry; including Konig's, Crescents and Mercury.

John Vines from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex ran a double engined Crescent of 1000cc, sounded absolutely superb

Believe that he still owns it, turned out occasionally in early CRMC events.

Jim , remember the regs for Cadwell in Charlies days? There was always a section asking if you had already been refused an entry that season. I assume that if you had already been refused ,that would put you nearer the top of the reserve list. That situation remained unchanged until the F2 class arrived.
