Oh happy days! Yours truly was racing Earlystocks in that meeting & my 1st outfit that I bought a few years later was also there driven by Roy Tansley.

That Keith Walters in the Pembrey programme must have been someone else, couldn't possibly have been me that long ago.

Good day's Tim, sadly a few are no longer with us who were in Forgotten Era, Andy Brown & John Dowling,
Southern "Bee" rascals. I've still got some of their stickers that Andy's mum & dad gave me

" That Keith Walters" was at the time on his SECOND come back & taught me everything i know
He was better on his FIRST comeback though when he taught me how to take out the Welsh Champion, make a mess of a £20,000 outfit with a £600 shed & gave me a bottle of whisky.....Now you remember Keith.

I remember when "Cooky" came up North for the first time after he came from Grass track to road racing.
Aintree late 80's.
I'm afraid he went grass tracking again when a hard driver by the name of Rob Heaton got the better of him & Cooky ended up on the grass, not very happy.

For the record & to redeem myself Geoff......
No it wasn't Cookie that was involved ......& to be fair it was straight off the start into the hairpin at Pembrey, I was up the inside ( the brakes worked ok during scrut' but more than 30mph were useless)
& said LCR just chopped me straight up from the outside...he was my brake..
I think this was our second meeting & we were as GREEN

as grass, we were on a Fidderman 10 & 12" wheels Z1000, cost me £600 with the trailer ( bargin & 13" wheels had been around for 15 years) & this incedent knackerd my fairing..not a happy chappie so we had to park up

. Second race went out without fairing & spent all night repairing it ready for Sunday.
The Bottle from the chief scrut' was for carrying on in adversity...

When I took out the reigning SRA East champion (on the first lap of practice

for the 4th event of my first and so far only come back) I didn't get such sympathetic treatment from the chief scrut. The fact that the chief scrut was also the passenger half of the SRA East champion team at the time may have had some bearing
Fortunately both rigs were repaired in time for the race later that day and there were no serious injuries (although my passenger still limps a bit).
