Isn’t it strange that after many years of being told by the ACU and organisers that there is not enough time to run an extra race for Classic Sidecars at the MGP, the ACU have now told the organisers that they have to run an extra solo class !!!!!

Simple explanation - sidecars take up more room than solos, fact! Therefore no room for sidecars

Sorry Wal but with only 2 finishers at last years Pre TT clasic races I think we,re a long way from a classic sidecar race at the MGP. Lets all pull together and support the Pre TT first.

I tried a couple of years running to get an entry for the Pre TT,never even got a reply so I thought you had to be one of the "chosen few "to get in

I don't understand that. The Southern100 is the most friendly and welcoming club. If you didn't get a reply, they didn't get your entry.

and Entry Forms are now available for the 2011 Meeting from
the official website for the Southern ‘100’ Club,

The meeting now in its 23rd year follows the popular format
used in recent years of six races catering for 250cc & 350cc
Single Cylinder machines; Lightweight (250cc); Junior (350cc)
Senior (500cc); Superbikes and Sidecars.
The Superbike Race has been updated for 2011 and will now
allow solo machines up to 1200cc.
The Race will now be divided into three classes:
Class A for Classic Machines of 400cc to 850cc.
Class B for Post Classic Superbikes of 230cc to 350cc
Class C for Post Classic Superbikes from 351cc to 1200cc.
The Blackford Financial Services Pre TT Classic Road
Races take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday 27th, 28th
& 30th May and have been the traditional curtain raiser to the
Isle of Man TT Races since 1988.

Got to agree with Helen, the Southern boys and girls are the friendlies and most helpful bunch of people in motorcycle racing. Its like being part of a family and there is no way (if your entry was recieved) that you wouldnt hear from them. If you ever get there youll see what were going on about.

would never race the southern !too dangerous( in my opinion),lost to many friends there,modern classics at the manx,yes please(not for an argument just my opinion)

I think a lot of classic sidecarists would love a go at the Manx, but I was always under the impression that as far as the Manx went the attitude was "sidecars never"

I love the Manx and have always wished there could be sidecars, but it will never be. It's not just about another race, it's the extra separate practice time etc. If only... but I have heard their reasons, and I understand and respect what they're trying to do.
I also understand what you're saying about the Billown course, but I love it with a passion. The main reason I took up passengering at all was to do it!
Groundhog Day for me would be the second race, first visit! I go over it in my head regularly...of course now, WE pass Geoff Bell, not the other way round, and I can smell the winner's champagne....LOL!!!

Meanwhile back to topic, now where did I put me beret ...

This Classic sidecar (they never put on weight, get stiff, or become crucially aware of their mortality!) racing thing is fine, but what about classic passengers and drivers..LOL!
