Anyone got any pics of a VW engined outfit especially engine to gearbox. Have been told that BMW gearbox was used. Any info would help

Have no pics - just relying on memory Mike. Mid-late 60s - IIRC correctly at least one raced in the northwest at Oulton. Drive was certainly BMW box, shaft & rear hub. We followed one for a while at Oulton on a Triumph, sounded superb as no noise regs then, acceleration was good but not much quicker overall than a good 650 Trumph which we were on. Main problem I suspect was weight disadvantage. Think the idea to use a VW lump was inspired by Clive Waye, a sprinter, with his Drag Waye bike. Uniusual power plant probably dropped as the Imps were just coming in then, lighter and faster.

Probably more choice in good 'off the shelf ' performance parts about now though Bob.

Probably right about that Carl - there was a very strong and popular Formula Vee single seater class using Beetle engines around that time. as a Formula class There were few available options except camshafts were free choice. A good 1300 engine would make some 80bhp under the regs.

I think your about right with 80 bhp Bob Been on all the lastest websites and thats around the figure they quote with a single carb:( we were hoping for a bit more than that But with 4 dellortos that might help The restriction looks to me like the shape of the inlet port, it corksrews The exhaust port is fine you can do something with that. The tuning bits are so cheap

Sounds good Mike, you didn't mention anything "Oriental"!! I'm gona put my IMP up for sale. Have a 350 to build. Then when that goes I might come and see you with "loads a dosh" an have something nice built.
