Thanks for the info Bob, I am definitely interested and as said before more info on prices and license requirements and how best to obtain them etc would be most helpful in finalising a decision.

OK folks, in the throes of deciphering an eight page page pdf doc with necessary info, please be patient as a lot of it is technical eligibility stuff

Hi Bob...thanks for your offer of help.
I have run under a Dutch Licence for 15 yrs, and, subject to racing at all next year may
take aFrench licence for 2012, as this is the only way to be able to ride in France [classic or
modern] Riders with a Dutch,Belgium or,UK licence can compete in any country except France
A French address would have to be used, but I have made provision for that and will help
anyone who wishes me to.
Anyone wishing to compete in the European Championship used to need a Championship
Licence which was quite expensive, but having not done it for several years, I do not know
the current situation.

Bob can help, I can help too.
BUT, French Federation (FFM) is strangely the most difficult administration !!
To obtain a French license, you must be a French club member. No a particular difficulty. Here is the web site of all the French clubs :
http://www.ffmoto.org/carte
and you can ask for a French license on the web
http://www.ffmoto.org/license
The rates are there
You would need a "NCA LIcense" (National License to race only in France) @ 250€ or a "LUE License" (European License you can use all over Europe in European declared events) @ 370€.
You need a French postal address. Not a difficulty. Mine or Bob's one could be efficient.
The medical certificate !!
Must be in French.
Not really a trouble. I can propose a draft written in English and in French to be signed by a doctor.
It would only be : "I, Doctor Jekyll, certify that Mr. Hyde is able to drive a sport motorcycle into racing competitions".
It's enough.
Another problem !
The class of your machine.
The FFM doesn't do anything as everybody. You would have to describe your bike, with pictures to know in which class you'll be.
Maybe, you saw the dates of the 5 events :
21/22 April : Croix en Ternois (Classic)
26/27 May : Pau-Arnos (Classic)
9/10 June : Carole (Paris) (Classic)
15/16 September : Haute-Saintonge (Classic) *
20/21 October : Le Vigeant - Val de Vienne (Classic)
* between Angoulême and Bordeaux
http://www.circuitdehautesaintonge.com/acces.html
You think it's hard to race in France, for us too !
Shut up, Dick T.
Never mind, you'll welcome !!

Thanks Fanch
I'm still struggling to translate the Classic regs
If anyone needs a French address then you are welcome to use mine, just hope that we don't get too many peeps as FFM may become a tad suspicious with a dozen or so all at the same address
