What do we know? I've had an email from someone, who will hopefully register for the forum and join the conversation, asking for any information we might have?

Go to it gentlemen :D

No problem :D Moved your post here as the Bar is just that, a bit less racing. I'm pretty sure Bobert will know something when he appears, he was around at that time and in the North London area.

Dave Ajax - lived in the Cheshunt/Enfield area, member of the Vagabonds MCC along with a number of other sidecar bods from that area in the '60s. Raced Manx outfits quite successfully with his regular passenger Macolm (Clickclack) Caley, finished 6th in the postponed 1966 TT with the distinction of being both first British bike home and the private finisher.

Long term friend of Charlie Freeman, their 'business arrangement' involved a brush with the legal system ;) Early '80s a tabloid newspaper carried a front page report that he had been found bound and naked on a ledge in a gravel pit in Cheshunt having been thrown in there by persons unknown. Following an accident in the S100 Dave was unconscious in Noble's for a couple of days which is believed to have changed his whole perspective on certain aspects of life 8-)

Have no knowledge of what he is up to these days or where he is, 666 may know more!

Dave was a great character in the racing world, widely liked by his fellow racers and a great driver who possibly would have achieved more given the right backing - I know this last bit sounds like an obit but I hope that it is not.

I spoke to him when i met him in Enfield 12 years ago, I think he was living in Waltham Cross at that time and he told me that he had upset some major London villains who were still trying to find him, I think he was moving around a lot to avoid them, thats the last time I saw him. I do have some pictures which I will try to find. The business arrangement you speak of involved a lot of other sidecar racers who had purchased parts from Dave, two of which were friends of mine Alan Butler (driver) alas died from complications caused by the drugs used to treat his illness and Colin Jewsbury (passenger). Both served unjust prison sentences as they had purchased a Triumph engine from Dave.

John.

Bob I have to correct you. Dave never competed in the 1966 TT. He was 7th in 1964.
