I saw that too

Was watching the oil return to the tank also and was amazed how thin the oil was

(Compared to 'R' anyway

)

Apparently you can check the core temperature of quite a few things with it

, but I think I'm happy just checking my oil temp.

Might look a bit odd with driver peering between his legs down each straight - even worse of the passenger's trying to have a gander

i'd be more worried about oil coming out of the cap Bobert

take the guage out and put the lid on before moving I suggest
