John Simper did a lot of work on the Jack Rook outfits.
They along with Ian Mcgee pioneered the outside wheel arch
kneeling tray which was a huge advantage on left handers

Steve Downs was a really talented driver who could have been a
champion. Great to watch and very competitive. :notworthy:

Thanks Dick. I used to live just round the corner from John, passengered for Steve Downes amongst others and knew Jack and Rusty quite well too. Jack's frames, the legendary JSRs, were superb, one of the best handling that I have ever been on the side :D

i have just got round to using this new computer thing, but if you want info on jack rook i am probably the one to ask as i was there in the beginning of jsr engineering when jack and i shared a workshop with john carpenter who ran dms and made aftermarket bellmouths and floatbowls later to become mistral engineering ,i built most of our engines ,my fathers shop in edmonton supplied bits and built wheels and jack built the frames i also raced a solo as well as one of our outfits on the odd occasion, i was in contact with him until he died as he stayed in my flat in the later years ,i am trying to put together the history of the shop the bikes and the riders that we helped out over those early years will,,ex edmonton motor spares

Hello Will, You may remember IOM 1967 your 15cwt Thames van was the honeymoon suite for my wife and I. We both remember different locations we awoke in and also waking on the way to the paddock to Jack and Russ.
