Request from a French member:

Have an Ireson from 1985 - does anyone know which car and year the brakes/discs were sorced, believed Austin.

My guess, and only that, is possibly Mini-Cooper?

Any help or advice welcomed on behalf of Chakal35 aka Pascal Hachet

This might help - you can search by size or manufacturer - gives all the relevant dimensions - worth a try ? - remember most of the car discs will be a lot thicker originally - we use Cortina on our bike - 12mm originally - have to be thinned down to suit the Lockheed calipers..

Might sound obvious but why not contact trevor or ask Wally at west performance as he's had more Iresons than most.

That's probably true Alan, but I can't remember what Trevor used, I thought it was Avenger or similar, might have a couple of used ones somewhere if that would help.

Anyone thought of asking Trevor ?

Someone posted Trevor's phone number but it has disappeared, very helpful but understand possibly why!

We have a late 70s Ireson and he used Hillman Hunter discs(Humber Sceptre)on that,weve just ordered a NOS one from Speedy spares(google it)for about £25,or you can buy of ebay for about £55,the ebay ones are EBC.

P.S You dont need to thin these down to fit the Lockheed or Grimeca calipers.

I have had 9 Iresons......the best bike ever for the TT. I am sure hillman hunter was the

donor disc in the period. Ask the "DUKE OF PEEL" Wally Saunders, at West Performance

he can supply most hydraulic and mechanical brake parts for all sidecar requirements .

I remember being told by both Howard Langham and Dave Wells how good the outfit was that Steve
built many years ago with no suspension front or rear. Howard said it was the fastest thing he ever rode through the Gooseneck at Cadwell.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to give us all some details. Steve always built his own bikes and they were
always pristine and innovative. Is my memory correct ...were you on board with him when he had that shunt
at Quarter bridge on the Norton ?

I would like Steve to write a book telling of his many exploits......or at least those that are printable

Dick i have never done any racing, it was Jim Williamson who was passenger in the Quarter Bridge incident i think 1972.
The frame broke causing the accident, Jim Willy was passenger from day one till i think about 82.
You a little wrong to say he built all his own as you may recall he had the first BRM tubular chassis and i believe you had the 2rd a monocoque, what a great success they were

I never went to many meeting from about 81 till around 2000 so not sure what outfits was used, think the last one was a Moly
